This is an extraordinary text. It addresses no small number of traditional theological concerns. However, it addresses them mindful of the earthiness of life. Thus this is also a book that is concerned to address questions of migration, brain physiology, emotional trauma, time, love, and death. It is written not to satisfy a bloodless lust for the resolution of puzzles. It is written with confidence that tangible bodies think. Thus there is an earthy quality to its writing, both in what it addresses and how it is addressed. The manner of After Crucifixion may be imagined as a moment in which in some unpretentious underground venue the deep, resonant percussions of subwoofers roll as a carnal wave across the chest and throat before they become the bass line in a conscious musical thought. After Crucifixion has been written for the ears, the chest, the throat, no less than for focused, deliberate, disciplined thought. But it is written in particular for bodies befriended by the Mystery of life and death--in the carnal event of the crucifixion/resurrection of the Galilean peasant Jesus, who unhands the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil and thus invites us to join him in prayer.

Jesus Of The Apocalypse written by Barbara Thiering and has been published by Random House this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08-31 with Religion categories.

In her controversial 1992 bestseller Jesus the Man, Barbara Thiering first showed how the pesher method of 'decoding' two separate levels of meaning found in the Dead Sea Scrolls could be used by applying it to the Gospels, and presented a completely new historical interpretation of the life of Jesus Christ. Now, in a new work of remarkable research and scholarship, she sets out to unravel the mysteries that have long surrounded the elusive complexities of the Book of Revelation. 'It was not,' she writes, 'about vision and apocalypse, but about the profoundly important history of the Christian movement from AD 1 to AD 114.' In Jesus of the Apocalypse, Barbara Thiering presents a new and significant view of the development of Christianity from the time of the crucifixion until the second century AD. She argues that Jesus was no solitary preacher appearing suddenly on the shores of Lake Galilee: he was a central figure in a major political movement to overthrow the pagan Roman empire. Although crucified, he did not die on the cross, and he, and subsequently his sons, took an important role in the evolution of the new underground religion which was developing out of Judaism. With detective-like perseverance Theiring unfolds the mystery of words, meanings and places that have been allowed to pass unchallenged, including a radical new interpretation of such mystical themes as the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, the seven seals. the Beast whose number is 666, the Great Harlot clothed in scarlet and purple. In so doing, she provides an absorbing and enlightening background to a period that has so often been seen more through the implications of scripture than the facts of history.

Suggests that Jesus survived the crucifixion, went to Egypt, then settled in France • Reveals new discoveries that show the beginnings of Christianity in Egypt • Presents historical and archaeological research that proves a connection between Jerusalem, Egypt, and Rennes-le-Château in the south of France • Posits Rennes-le-Château as the actual location of Jesus Christ’s tomb, and that writings by him will be found there Jesus did not die on the cross. He survived and went to southern France with his wife, Mary. This possibility is proposed by Graham Simmans, who spent many years on a quest to find the real beginnings of Christianity. Simmans believes that the spread of Christianity beyond Jerusalem was tied to Jesus’s survival of the crucifixion and his subsequent emigration to Europe. Using Coptic and Jewish sources, including the Talmud, that allow a glimpse of the Christian philosophy espoused by Jesus, he contends that true Christianity was brought into France, Britain, and Spain from first century Egypt and Judea, not fourth- and fifth-century Rome. His investigation shows that after a time in Egypt, Jesus settled in Rennes-le-Château, a sophisticated and cosmopolitan center of spiritual diversity. It was a natural move for Jesus to settle in the Narbonne area of France--an area already heavily settled by Jewish and Gnostic groups. Here, safely outside the reach of the cultural dictatorship of the Roman Church, the Gnostic secrets he taught survived the centuries. Later, the Knights Templar centered their activity in the Languedoc region around Rennes-le-Château, where, within the Jewish communities, a well-connected and influential opposition to Rome already existed. This resistance to Rome gave rise to a religious culture that included elements of Gnostic, Pythagorean, and Kabbalistic teachings. Until the Crusades against the Cathar heretics reasserted the dominion of Rome, the culture that flourished around Rennes-le-Château embodied the true essence of Christ’s message.

Did you ever wonder what happened to Yeshua after he was crucified? Join author Robert Peate as he attempts to cut through 2,000 years of lies, using the latest science to offer what he views as the likeliest scenario in the context of a great story! "The World is slow to understand, and easily deceived. It thinks it sees things it does not, and it believes what it is told. Someone is telling them things that are not true." Sometime about 30 AD, a charismatic leader in Judea named Yeshua was sentenced to death. He had threatened neither Rome nor the king in name only Herod. But he had trespassed on the area of the local religious authority, with greater effect than innumerable other street preachers. The Pharisees demanded his death. Herod did not want to get involved, but Rome was ever interested in stability and obliged to bring it about without emotion. The Pharisees were satisfied. But the plan went awry: Yeshua was not killed. This play is Robert Peate's vision of what Yeshua did next, based on the latest medical and scientific data available. Christians: dare you test your faith? This play presents a much more likely scenario than divine intervention, let alone resurrection.

The Father S Will written by Nicholas E. Lombardo and has been published by OUP Oxford this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-11-28 with Religion categories.

The night before his crucifixion, in the garden of Gethsemane, Jesus asks his Father to take away the cup of his suffering, but then says, "not my will, but yours, be done." Shortly afterward, Judas arrives, and his arrival reveals something important about the Father's will. Yet much remains obscure. The sheer fact of Christ's crucifixion shows only that God was not willing to spare his Son. It does not shed any light on the positive content of the Father's will. Drawing on philosophical analysis and historical-critical exegesis, The Father's Will sets out to clarify the Father's will for Christ and how it relates to his death on the cross. Then, after considering the theologies of Anselm and Peter Abelard, it argues for the recovery of the early Christian category of ransom. Since Christians look to the crucifixion to make sense of their suffering, the Father's will for Christ relates to many existential questions; it also shapes the place of God the Father in Christian theology and culture. Interpreting the crucifixion as a ransom makes the goodness of God more evident. It also makes it easier to see God the Father as the author of our salvation, rather than a stern judge who must be placated. And since the category of ransom traces back to Jesus' saying in the Gospels about giving his life "as a ransom for many" it has great claim to interpret the crucifixion in the way Jesus himself interpreted it.
