La mostra - e questo catalogo - vogliono dare un esempio delle testimonianze raccolte all'interno dell'Archivio della Congregazione per la Dottrina della Fede, le quali - oltre all'eccezionale valore ed interesse storico - spesso conservano un carattere di notevole pregevolezza estetica. Si tratta quindi di una rara occasione per vedere documenti che sono la testimonianza precisa di alcune tappe cruciali della nostra storia. (dalla presentazione di Marco Pizzo) Presentare, prima in una mostra e ora in un catalogo, una selezione di documenti dell'Archivio dell'Inquisizione Romana, che susciti un reale interesse e non solo morbosa curiosità nello spettatore odierno, è stato un compito entusiasmante e nello stesso tempo delicato. In effetti, poiché ogni presentazione implica, per sua natura, l'offerta di un'immagine del soggetto presentato, la sfida era dare un'idea del Sant'Uffizio che non fosse stereotipa, modellata cioè sui pregiudizi dell'una o dell'altra parte. È perciò che si è voluto partire dalla più recente attività di ricerca archivistica e storiografica riguardante l'Istituzione, svolta negli ultimi dieci anni, per trovare il giusto punto di vista dal quale impostare un'immagine che rispecchiasse il più possibile, al di là dei soliti luoghi comuni, ciò che è stato l'operato del Sant'Uffizio, il suo riflesso e la sua influenza nelle società con le quali ha dovuto interagire lungo i secoli. Tra quelle mura che dovrebbero abbracciare, amare, proteggere per molte donne c’è solo un destino di solitudine amara e violenza. Le donne sono considerate dagli uomini loro proprietà e prevaricarle fisicamente e psicologicamente un loro diritto. Molte donne sono forti, nobili, sanno combattere, cadere e rialzarsi anche se con tanta fatica. Purtroppo, però, a volte alcune sono anche carnefici. Non è facile per Chiara mantenere un equilibrio. Lavoro, esperienze e vita di relazione all’esterno si intrecciano in un racconto quotidiano sofferto, ma anche gioioso nei momenti di pausa. Sensibile, lettrice vorace, appassionata di poesia e arte, viaggia, si innamora e trova lenimento alle ferite della sua anima nei versi dei suoi poeti preferiti, nei colori e nei profumi della natura. È un’anima pura Chiara e attraverso la sua voce Gioconda Marinelli invita alla speranza, ad alzare la testa, a denunciare e impegnarsi. A non arrendersi. Mai.
