Un viaggio a ritroso nel tempo per indagare il proprio passato, e forse spiegare il presente, è quello che compie coraggiosamente la protagonista Alma. Non è un libro autobiografico, tuttavia come dice Marguerite Yourcenar: “Ogni essere che ha vissuto l’avventura umana sono io”. Il percorso a volte sembra accidentato e forse sarebbe meglio fermarsi, tuttavia per Alma (nel nome è già scritto il suo destino) è fondamentale scandagliare i recessi della sua anima per indagare su una parte di sé che non conosceva o di cui magari si era dimenticata. I ricordi fanno rivivere il dolore, certo, ma anche la felicità, che non sempre appare come tale mentre la si vive, a volte offuscata da interferenze che distraggono e portano la protagonista a interrogarsi sulle sue scelte. Su tutto emerge, trasversale, la certezza di aver voluto percorrere quella strada avendola individuata come itinerario della propria anima, avendo riconosciuto all’istante una parte di sé in una persona incontrata in una sera qualunque, tra persone qualsiasi, in un luogo come tanti, ma in un momento fondamentale della sua vita, perché come sostiene Hesse: “Amore è ogni moto della nostra anima in cui essa sente se stessa e percepisce la propria vita”. E per Alma Paolo è stato il grande amore, l’amore assoluto e imperfetto che diventò il suo destino. Tiziana M.L. Gazzola è nata a Solagna, in provincia di Vicenza, un piccolo paese alle porte di Bassano del Grappa dove ha frequentato il Liceo Ginnasio “G.B. Brocchi”. Si è laureata a Padova in Lettere moderne e, grazie a questa laurea e all’aiuto della madre, ha potuto mantenere la propria famiglia durante e dopo il matrimonio con un militare americano. Ha tre figli e sei nipotini. Ora che è in pensione ha fatto della scrittura il suo mestiere. Ha pubblicato il suo primo libro Una doppia storia con la casa editrice AltroMondo Editore, presente alla Fiera del Libro di Francoforte 2018.

The Spanish poet Juan Ramón Jiménez (1881–1958; Nobel laureate 1956) wrote at a key moment in literary history. Since Jiménez’s lyrical output covers the poetic tradition from Romanticism through Symbolism to the Avant-Gardes, his work can be regarded as a condensation of the modern paradigm. Julio Jensen investigates the lyrical subject appearing in Jiménez’s poetry as exemplary of the notion of modern subjectivity. He does so by assuming a historical correlation between literature and philosophy in the sense that if philosophical discourse conceptualizes the prevailing understanding of the human being at a given moment, literary discourse represents it. Modern thought does not accept any other foundation than subjectivity. At the same time, the awareness of the subject’s finitude engenders pessimism with respect to its status as world-generating principle. One of the primary aims of this study, then, is to show how Jiménez poignantly enacts this vacillation between self-enthronement and self-eradication. With insightful readings of Jiménez’s poetry, the author opens a rich vein in the work of a writer who would serve as a central reference for later Spanish-language poets such as Federico Garcá Lorca, Pablo Neruda and Octavio Paz.

A biographical and critical study of the Spanish poet Manuel Machado (1874-1947), who was highly thought of in his lifetime but who, since his death, declined in popularity.
