Cet ouvrage présente les méthodes statistiques multidimensionnelles applicables à l'analyse d'un corpus de textes, que l'on appelle plus brièvement analyse textuelle. Le contenu correspond à un cours spécialisé destiné à un large public, tant de chercheurs ou praticiens comme d'étudiants de niveau licence, qui doivent affronter la nécessité d'extraire des informations de données textuelles massives ou non. Dans les 5 premiers chapitres, un exemple de base, extrait d'une enquête par questionnaire qui comportait des questions ouvertes, est utilisé pour présenter les diverses méthodes. Comme ces méthodes se complètent mutuellement, il est nécessaire de voir et comprendre ce que chacune d'elles apporte. Les concepts sont introduits de façon simple et rigoureuse avant qu'un exemple illustre très effectivement les points de théorie présentés. Le chapitre 6 reprend le volet multilingue de cette enquête et montre comment traiter simultanément des réponses en plusieurs langues. Finalement, le chapitre 7 offre quatre applications issues de problématiques très diverses (analyse bibliographique, analyse d'un scénario de film, analyse de tweets, analyse de discours politiques). Les exemples sont traités avec le package Xplortext, disponible dans le logiciel gratuit R, et l'analyse peut être reproduite car tant les bases que les scripts sont disponibles sur le site Xplortext.org.
