Professionals working in a range of clinical settings are regularly called upon to work with angry clients, and they may find their skills and resources for working with this powerful emotion limited. Art Therapy and Anger demonstrates how the non-verbal medium of art therapy provides an ideal outlet for the expression of thoughts and feelings that are too complex and painful to put into words, presenting a new and practical approach to dealing with this area of need. Marian Liebmann argues that clients of all ages will benefit from the art-making process, which helps them to slow down and consider their emotions more calmly. The tangible product of their efforts allows clients to assess and react to what they have depicted, providing a lucid and safe framework for better understanding the causes and effects of their anger. This book draws together contributions from art therapists who work in a wide variety of contexts, including work with offenders, mental health clients, clients with brain injury and those with cancer, with the view of helping clients to manage their anger more constructively. This positive, practical volume will be of great interest to art therapists and students, as well as practitioners working with angry clients in various fields such as mental health, probation, counselling and medicine.

Painting In Anger written by delia Lara and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-12-21 with categories.

Painting in Anger This book is like no other. It tells a story in a different and unique way. In this book there are about one-hundred, true-to-life art expressions. Along with the expressions, a true story is written in diary format. As a whole it tells a story of a family - a father, four children and a mother (myself). No big deal you may think. Here is the thing. For most of my life, I thought of myself as a realist artist more or less, painting flowers, portraits landscapes etc. This was until the day I scribbled with a pencil, my first art-expression. It was anger that brought out my first art expression. On my drawing paper I came down hard, holding my pencil like one holds a dagger. I drew strong, crazy and bold lines. This is where everything changed for me, an artist that had already graduated from art college, and had painted over 300 paintings. I had never done any artwork in anger before. It was a big revelation in "expressionism" for me. After this, for a one year period, all my artworks were in the form of art expressions, and all done in pencil at first. They brought out of me, my frustrations in life, my struggles in being married, my insanity, my suicidal attempts, my love for my children. My whole emotional story came out. This experience in expressionism has brought me to write this book, giving not only a true story but like never before, giving new insight and knowledge on expressionism. The book is large, 8.5 x 11 in with 295 pages. Delia Lara

Using the principles of CBT, these illustrated worksheets help clients to understand and manage their anger and associated issues. The activities follow the framework of a typical CBT course: how it works, looking at the nature of anger, linking thoughts, feelings, behaviour and physiology cycles, exploring different levels of thinking and beliefs, and identifying goals and future planning. It presents these theories in an accessible way so that clients are familiar with the foundations of CBT they will be using in the worksheets. They can complete them by writing or drawing, alongside the opportunity to colour in parts of the pages as they consider ideas. Suitable for adults in individual or group work, this is an excellent resource to use as a standalone resource or in conjunction with professional therapy to deal with anger issues.

Fascinated by the idea of Western civilization as being a sequence of numerous misinterpretations and misrepresentations, these nineteen essays cover a broad range of topics with the unifying theme being the crossroads where politics and the imagination meet. An essay on linguistics and culture discusses the shaping of Latin America's collective identity; Peru's modern history is approached as a bloody battle between enlightenment and darkness; and in critiques of Octavio Paz and Gabriel García Márquez, Stavans reflects on the dichotomy between pen and sword in the Hispanic world. In 'Letter to a German Friend', Stavans returns to his fate as a Jew in the Southern Hemisphere, and in 'The First Book,' he connects his passion for literature to his initiation into Jewishness. Finally, in a meditation on Columbus's afterlife, he reflects on the many ways in which we reinvent ourselves in order to make sense of the chaotic world that surrounds us.

Paul Klee And The Decorative In Modern Art written by Jenny Anger and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-02-12 with Art categories.

One of the goals of Modernism was the presentation of the essence of art, or pure form. Encouraged by theorists, modern artists found pure form in ornament which, though promising, was sullied by connotations of materiality, domesticity, and femininity. Jenny Anger demonstrates that the decorative significantly informed Paul Klee's art. She compares his work to that of another major modernist, Henri Matisse, to confirm the critical role of the decorative in Modernism. Anger also explores the relevance of the decorative for contemporary and, especially, women artists.

This edited collection traverses the genre of anger studies by documenting its transition from the Classical age up to our present-day cognizance of the philosophical, socio-historical, psycho-physiological and pathological theorizations of anger. The book illustrates how literature may systematically document and even institutionalize primal, emotive outbursts, providing meaningful analysis for scholars across various disciplines. The contributions here cover a wide spectrum of critical works, ranging from Aristotle’s Rhetoric, Seneca’s De Ira and Plutarch’s On Restraining Anger to Bharat Muni’s Natyashastra, as well as notable nineteenth century texts by authors such as E.T.A. Hoffmann, Edgar Allan Poe, Emily Bronte, Matthew Arnold, Algernon Swinburne, Rudyard Kipling and Henry Lawson.
