Painting in Anger This book is like no other. It tells a story in a different and unique way. In this book there are about one-hundred, true-to-life art expressions. Along with the expressions, a true story is written in diary format. As a whole it tells a story of a family - a father, four children and a mother (myself). No big deal you may think. Here is the thing. For most of my life, I thought of myself as a realist artist more or less, painting flowers, portraits landscapes etc. This was until the day I scribbled with a pencil, my first art-expression. It was anger that brought out my first art expression. On my drawing paper I came down hard, holding my pencil like one holds a dagger. I drew strong, crazy and bold lines. This is where everything changed for me, an artist that had already graduated from art college, and had painted over 300 paintings. I had never done any artwork in anger before. It was a big revelation in "expressionism" for me. After this, for a one year period, all my artworks were in the form of art expressions, and all done in pencil at first. They brought out of me, my frustrations in life, my struggles in being married, my insanity, my suicidal attempts, my love for my children. My whole emotional story came out. This experience in expressionism has brought me to write this book, giving not only a true story but like never before, giving new insight and knowledge on expressionism. The book is large, 8.5 x 11 in with 295 pages. Delia Lara

At age 43, I started doing art expressions, a form of art I had not done before. Priorly, I had graduated from art school and had painted over 300 paintings. I painted portraits, landscapes, animals, flowers, etc., and always, I tried to paint realistically. But my expressions were nowhere like my realistic paintings. They were rough, sketchy, and seemingly unreal. I drew them instinctively with a pencil, and kept notes because this was all new to me and I wanted to remember, as the expressions had more to do with my daily living and my emotions than with my enjoyment and drive in painting. After one year I ended with 100 art expressions that came as the greatest revelation. They gave me a wealth of knowledge about expressionism I did not learn in art college, and they opened insights about myself. I had to pass this amazing experience to others.Seven years later, I turned the rough expressions into finished acrylic paintings and started writing this book. As the expressions and the writing unfold, they tell a story of my dysfunctional marriage with four children.Because I did the expressions on a more or less daily basis, this book is written in diary fashion making it unique and like no other. Art Therapy And Anger written by Marian Liebmann and has been published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-06-15 with Psychology categories.

Professionals working in a range of clinical settings are regularly called upon to work with angry clients, and they may find their skills and resources for working with this powerful emotion limited. Art Therapy and Anger demonstrates how the non-verbal medium of art therapy provides an ideal outlet for the expression of thoughts and feelings that are too complex and painful to put into words, presenting a new and practical approach to dealing with this area of need. Marian Liebmann argues that clients of all ages will benefit from the art-making process, which helps them to slow down and consider their emotions more calmly. The tangible product of their efforts allows clients to assess and react to what they have depicted, providing a lucid and safe framework for better understanding the causes and effects of their anger. This book draws together contributions from art therapists who work in a wide variety of contexts, including work with offenders, mental health clients, clients with brain injury and those with cancer, with the view of helping clients to manage their anger more constructively. This positive, practical volume will be of great interest to art therapists and students, as well as practitioners working with angry clients in various fields such as mental health, probation, counselling and medicine.

Paul Klee And The Decorative In Modern Art written by Jenny Anger and has been published by Cambridge University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-02-12 with Art categories.

One of the goals of Modernism was the presentation of the essence of art, or pure form. Encouraged by theorists, modern artists found pure form in ornament which, though promising, was sullied by connotations of materiality, domesticity, and femininity. Jenny Anger demonstrates that the decorative significantly informed Paul Klee's art. She compares his work to that of another major modernist, Henri Matisse, to confirm the critical role of the decorative in Modernism. Anger also explores the relevance of the decorative for contemporary and, especially, women artists.

Philosophy, arts and politics share a passion for dissent. Avant-garde art, as that which mines the territories of the conventions and undermines the what is, has always existed as a social and highly political phenomenon. 'Rhythms of Anger' is, theoretically, an anti-colonial research that highlights the existence of Daoist texts, aesthetic theories and artistic styles in the Chinese paintings that antedate the European Modernist and Avant-garde impulses by at least a millennium. Thus, it opens ways for a counter-theorisation and re-theorisation of the predominantly Eurocentric, already existing theories of the avant-garde. Practically, and through the two short films, it exemplifies how Daoist philosophy could inspire the creation of contemporary avant-garde work. In the meantime, class, gender and racial injustices have governed human beings' lives since their very first attempt at getting together. Rhythms of Anger is an attempt at theorising the coordinates of an un-humanist thought that challenges modernism as an extension of the project of European Enlightenment, a project of hope, and therefore prone to be incorporated, established, and become politically reactionary.
