The catalog, with texts by Alexandra Zingone, literary critic and curator of the exhibition, tackles the analysis of the art of the 'short century' with a global view, taking into consideration the constant dialog between the various exponents of the cultural world. Through passages from critical texts by Ungaretti as an interpreter of art, the volume follows the exhibition among the many works by contemporary artists, including Giacomo Balla, Alberto Burri, Giuseppe Capogrossi, Carlo Carrà, Giorgio de Chirico, Piero Dorazio and others. Throughout his multidisciplinary career, Ungaretti found himself indiscriminately analyzing various genres, including Futurism, Metaphysical, Informalism, Socialist Realism and Expressionism of the Roman School. The exhibition develops around the poet's pieces, in some cases in the form of original manuscripts and first editions. Accompanying the volume is an extremely rich iconographic and archival apparatus accompanies the reader in discovering a virtuous example of the links that have always existed between literature and the visual arts.

La mia storia di amore per la letteratura è iniziata alla quinta elementare, quando la maestra mi prestava i suoi libri, ritenendo che fossi particolarmente dotato per la scrittura, questa passione è proseguita alle medie e poi troncata per mancanza di fondi della mia famiglia (si parla del dopoguerra) dove le poesie che scrivevo erano regolarmente sospettate di essere copiate da qualche antologia! Cominciai così una vita di lavoro duro ma soddisfacente, sempre però gratificata da letture gradualmente più impegnative. La morte della donna che ho molto amato, mi ha indotto a scrivere i miei stati d’animo. Le cose che racconto in questa raccolta sono in parte ispirate a fatti accaduti mentre altre sono di pura fantasia e descrivono il mio amore per la natura, la musica, la poesia, la pittura e le arti che elevano lo spirito di una società che spero si ravveda e ricominci ad amare e rispettare il mondo in cui viviamo e si ricordi che il rapporto personale non è paragonabile ai pur comodi mezzi di comunicazione del giorno d’oggi. Con amicizia per il mondo Gennari Rolando Rolando Gennari è nato a Basilicanova in provincia di Parma. Dopo una vita di lavoro, sempre gratificata da buone letture, si diletta a scrivere i suoi più intimi pensieri.
