Artificial Intelligence in Capsule Endoscopy: A Gamechanger for a Groundbreaking Technique highlights the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) application in capsule endoscopy. AI will have a key role in the mid/long-term for gastrointestinal endoscopy and capsule endoscopy. This field is a prime area for the use of AI tools with over 50,000 images per endoscopy capsule video, making video analysis a time and resource consuming task and prone to error. With the application of AI image analysis tools (primarily Convolutional Neural Networks) we can decrease capsule endoscopy video reading time and resources and greatly benefit diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes. In 15 chapters, this important reference provides a global and comprehensive perspective from the background information of AI, machine learning, deep learning and their implications in GI endoscopy. It showcases AI practical use in lesion detection and in relevant clinical indications (like obscure gastrointestinal bleeding and inflammatory bowel disease), and points to future applications of AI within the field. Provides the current and developing practical application of AI tools in capsule endoscopy Explains the disruptive nature of AI tools in capsule endoscopy video analysis to provide a better perspective on how AI will change the landscape of capsule endoscopy practice in the future Includes specific lesion detection, delivering key summaries and practical applications regarding AI tools use Bridges theorical foundations and practical utility of AI in capsule endoscopy

Adoption of video capsule endoscopy has been slow, but there are now four FDA-approved devices and others available in China. It is now generally realized that there is an expanding role for these devices, not only in the small intestine but in the GI tract in general. In collaboration with Consulting Editor, Dr. Charles Lightdale, guest editor Dr. David Cave has assembled expert authors to provide clinical reviews that address where we are now, areas of controversy that still need resolution, and where the field is likely to develop over the next 5 to 10 years. Articles are specifically devoted to the following topics: Training, Reading and Reporting for Video Capsule Endoscopy; Indications and Contraindications: Complications of Capsule Endoscopy; Preparation, Prokinetics, and Surface Active Agents; Role of Capsule in Small Intestinal Bleeding; Role of Capsule Endoscopy in IBD; Role of Video Capsule Endoscopy in Liver Disease; Role of Video Capsule Endoscopy in Alternative Settings; Timing and Use of the Capsule Endoscopy in the Acute Care Setting; Role of Video Capsule Endoscopy as a Prelude to Deep Enteroscopy; Location of Capsule and Provocation Testing; Cost Effectiveness of Video Capsule Endoscopy; Artificial Intelligence in Capsule Endoscopy; and Novel Clinical Applications and Technical Developments in Video Capsule Endoscopy.

Computer Games I is the first volume in a two part compendium of papers covering the most important material available on the development of computer strategy games. These selections range from discussions of mathematical analyses of games, to more qualitative concerns of whether a computer game should follow human thought processes rather than a "brute force" approach, to papers which will benefit readers trying to program their own games. Contributions include selections from the major players in the development of computer games: Claude Shannon whose work still forms the foundation of most contemporary chess programs, Edward O. Thorpe whose invention of the card counting method caused Las Vegas casinos to change their blackjack rules, and Hans Berliner whose work has been fundamental to the development of backgammon and chess games.

Diagnosis And Treatment Of Small Bowel Disorders written by Anastasios Koulaouzidis and has been published by MDPI this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-01-27 with Medical categories.

Over the last few decades, remarkable progress has been made in understanding the aetiology and pathophysiology of diseases and many new theories emphasize the importance of the small bowel ‘ecosystem’ in the pathogenesis of acute and chronic illness. Emerging factors such as microbiome, stem cells, innate intestinal immunity and the enteric nervous system along with mucosal and endothelial barriers have key role in the development of gastrointestinal and extra-intestinal diseases. Therefore, the small intestine is considered key player in metabolic disease development, including diabetes mellitus, and other diet-related disorders such as celiac and non-celiac enteropathies. Another major field is drug metabolism and its interaction with microbiota. Moreover, the emergence of gut-brain, gut-liver and gut-blood barriers points toward the important role of small intestine in the pathogenesis of common disorders, such as liver disease, hypertension and neurodegenerative disease. However, the small bowel remains an organ that is difficult to fully access and assess and accurate diagnosis often poses a clinical challenge. Eventually, the therapeutic potential remains untapped. Therefore, it is due time to direct our interest towards the small intestine and unravel the interplay between small-bowel and other gastrointestinal (GI) and non-GI related maladies.
