Faith without works is dead. “So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs.” Are you one who claims to know Jesus Christ? Are you one who can see and one who can hear? The Lord is calling you as His disciple, to walk as He walked, and do as He did. As the prodigal son, forsaking it all, willing to go to his Father just as a hired servant; we are told this, ?Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.? I would rather be least in the kingdom of Heaven than not there at all. Wouldn't you?

Nothing is more important than what a person believes about Jesus Christ. To understand Christ correctly is to understand the very heart of God, Scripture, and the gospel. To get to the core of this belief, this latest volume in the Foundations of Evangelical Theology series lays out a systematic summary of Christology from philosophical, biblical, and historical perspectives--concluding that Jesus Christ is God the Son incarnate, both fully divine and fully human. Readers will learn to better know, love, trust, and obey Christ--unashamed to proclaim him as the only Lord and Savior.

Living Out the Word Made Flesh “Sixty years ago I found myself distracted,” Eugene Peterson wrote. “A chasm had developed between the way I was preaching from the pulpit and my deepest convictions on what it meant to be a pastor.” And so began Peterson’s journey to live and teach a life of congruence—congruence between preaching and living, between what we do and the way we do it, between what is written in Scripture and how we live out that truth. Nothing captures the biblical foundation for this journey better than Peterson’s teachings over his twenty-nine years as a pastor. As Kingfishers Catch Fire offers a never-before-published collection of these teachings to anyone longing for a richer, truer spirituality. Peterson’s strikingly beautiful prose and deeply grounded insights usher us into a new understanding of how to live out the good news of the Word made flesh. This is one man’s compelling quest to discover not only how to be a pastor but how to be a human being.

To the Reader: And He calleth His own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when He putteth forth His own sheep, He goeth before them, and the sheep follow Him: for they know His voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers . . . I am the Door: by Me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture (John 10: 35, 9). As you read these words of Jesus, his commandment to you, listen as he speaks to you. He is the Door of the sheep. We are either in his fold or we are not. If you are not one of his sheep, do not be deceived by the enemy of our souls! Enter in by the Door, the Good Shepherd, and become secure as one of his own sheep! Then rejoice in him! If you are already counted as one of his sheep, then you, too, rejoice! Then feed on his Word, some of which are in this book. Gods very own words to each of us! Alleluia! Ghostwriter for God, Laura Russell Simpson

Do You Love Me? is a very real and personal look at discipleship, revival, and how to position yourself for greater usefulness in God’s Kingdom. From accepting Christ during the 70’s Jesus Movement to leading a church into revival and feeding people in famine-stricken areas of Africa, author and Pastor Rick Tunis uses boldly transparent stories of his life to illustrate: Biblical teachings on the nature of shepherding. The ripple effects of backsliding. The joy of sustained commitment. God’s desire to take ordinary believers from the ranks of the unreliable and enlist them into unimaginable Spirit-led assignments. Are you like many Christians who are unable to maximize your potential to become an effective shepherd of others? If so, you may experience years of frustration, a sense of an unrealized calling, and limited usefulness in the Kingdom of God. Do You Love Me? will encourage you, and give you practical steps for making the change from sheep to shepherd through sustained faithfulness and obedience to God’s Word.

Is it possible for a child to get saved? Well, this question may seem to have an obvious answer. However, the implications of this answer are not as simple as the answer. Why? Because, as the Prince of Preachers noted, many believers and even pastors act and treat those children who sincerely desire to follow Christ as if their answer to the question would be totally different. In this book, Spurgeon diagnoses a disease that was and is widespread in the Evangelical community - child salvation not taken seriously - and then offers biblical and practical advice on how to avoid this, and how to use biblical wisdom and discernment to lead our children to Christ while at the same time on how to avoid giving our children a false assurance of salvation. This book has been originally published in 1897. This edition has been edited for modern readers, typeset for eBook readers, and proofread. About the author: Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892) was born in Kelvedon, Essex, England. He converted to Christianity in 1850 at a small Methodist chapel, and shortly after that he began his own ministry of preaching and teaching, and preached more than 500 sermons by the age of 20. During his ministry, he preached to more than 10 million people, wrote tens of books, and published his sermons in over 25,000 copies on a weekly basis. Charles Spurgeon suffered from poor health and he died on January 31, 1892, and was buried in London.

The letter of 1 Peter is sometimes known as “the letter of the living hope.” It’s a letter written by a shepherd who wants to make sure his flock has good instructions on how to live a godly life. The author is Peter, one of Jesus’ twelve disciples. Silas was Peter’s scribe. In Feed My Sheep, author and longtime pastor, Fritz Lenk presents a commentary on Peter and uses it as a tool for spiritual growth for Christians. Topics range from holy living, obedience to authorities, and family relations. It further touches on such subjects as suffering injustice at the hand of men and suffering for Jesus’ sake. It: • Offers praises to God for living hope and encouragement to live a holy life • Discusses why Christians should abstain from sinful desires, obey earthly authorities, and follow Christ’s example • Points out the obligations of wives and husbands, warning all believers to be compassionate, humble, and live in harmony with one another • Tells why in times of suffering, Christians should still praise God • Provides instructions for church overseers, admonishing them to practice humility, trust in God, and be alert of the times The commentary, previously published in the German Gospel Trumpet, illuminates Peter’s message in an easy and understanding way and can help Christians who are seeking to grow in their faith.

Upending Christianity's popular notion of Jesus the comforter, the good shepherd, the Lord, and the Savior, this completely new exploration of Mark's Life of Jesus reexamines the image presented in this earliest of the New Testament gospels—the mysterious stranger, the singular, abandoned, and solitary figure—and rethinks the current role of Western culture through a radically altered view of Christianity. The existential Jesus has no interest in sin, and his focus is not on an afterlife. He is anti–church, anti–establishment, anti–family, and anti–community; a teacher, with himself his only student, he gestures enigmatically from within his own torturous experience, inviting the reader to walk in his shoes and ask the question, Who am I? This book argues that Jesus is the West's great teacher on the nature of being. Incorporating a new translation of the Gospel of Mark from its original Greek, this radical reinterpretation identifies the philosophical and cultural significance of Jesus in the modern world, based on his life, actions, and reflections.
