Chiara Mastroberti retraces the most decisive moments of Judith Butler's work with the aim of deepening Butler's thoughts on the relationship between political subjection and individual passions. Rereading La vita psichica del potere and Parole che provocano (1997), passing through Vite precarie (2004) and Critica della violenza etica (2005), the author analyses Butler's discussion on fear, paranoia, melancholy and desire, framing it within the philosopher's broader ethical and political reflection. At the core of this reflection, there are the dialectics of "psychic life", oscillating between adherence and resistance to the social norm: passions are the key to reading this text in order to understand the origin and limit of the contemporary subject, its "passivity" and the secret of its survival.

This volume is intended to be the first in a series that will focus on the origin of script and the boundaries of non-scribal communication media in proto-literate and literate societies of the ancient Aegean. Over the last 30 years, the domain of scribes and bureaucrats has become much better known. Our goal now is to reach below the élite and scribal levels to interface with non-scribal operations conducted by people of the ‘middling’ sort. Who made these marks and to what purpose? Did they serve private or (semi-) official roles in Bronze Age Aegean society? The comparative study of such practices in the contemporary East (Cyprus, Anatolia, the Levant, and Egypt) can shed light on sub-elite activities in the Aegean and also provide evidence for cultural and economic exchange networks.

This volume provides a close look at the ways in which LGBTQ2 people form familial bonds. It brings together stories from non-binary families across continents and cultures and recenters care as a foundational value for creating familial ties. In quanto segno, il patrimonio materiale è la traccia più visibile del passato nella nostra vita quotidiana. In costante dialettica con il patrimonio immateriale, esso costituisce una presenza fisica che ci costringe a prese di coscienza concrete. La conoscenza dei testi e delle storie, che è per Vitruvio la strada maestra per l’ideazione e la costruzione di un edificio, è fondamentale anche nei processi di decostruzione, secondo le varie tappe e le differenti percezioni, attraverso le epoche e i costumi, fino a ripercorrere il processo che ha trasformato un bene in 'patrimonio'. Il lessico e la terminologia dei beni culturali sono in questo senso il vettore più importante di conoscenza, di valorizzazione e di diffusione del patrimonio. Che cos’è il diritto all’“identità di genere”? Perché secondo la giurisprudenza italiana ha ormai sostituito quello all’“identità sessuale”? Che funzione svolge nel nostro ordinamento? E per che tipo di operazioni giuridiche è servito e serve oggi? Il volume di Tommaso Gazzolo cerca di rispondere a queste domande in un percorso che incrocia il diritto con la psicoanalisi, ma anche con alcune teorie post-femministe, nel tentativo di individuare contraddizioni e aporie che derivano da una concezione del “genere” quale tratto caratteristico dell’identità “personale”. In particolare, l’autore mira a mostrare come l’identità di genere, per come intesa comunemente tanto dalla scienza giuridica quanto in un certo dibattito pubblico, finisca per risolversi in un astratto diritto “a essere sé stessi”, di cui il libro denuncia limiti e pericoli, cercando al contempo di indicare una nuova funzione del diritto in relazione alla sessualità.
