In this book, 37 international academics illustrate how authentic assessment is an effective measure of intellectual achievement as it requires the demonstration of deep understanding and complex problem solving through the performance of exemplary tasks. By exploring the concept of authentic assessment in both tertiary and school education, the authors in these chapters argue that authentic assessment is not only the measurement of significant intellectual accomplishments but also an important pedagogical structure. Authentic assessment is a concept more closely defined as an umbrella term that seeks to immerse learners in environments where they can gain highly practical and lifelong learning skills. Authentic assessment has been on the educational agenda for a number of years and keeps being a powerful tool for assessing students’ 21st century competencies in the context of global educational reforms. The rise of ChatGPT has stirred intense conversations in education, raising concerns about the loss of traditional assessment methods. The increasing emphasis on examination-based evaluations has gained attention, leading educators to wrestle with the possible standardization of academic assessments. This one-size-fits-all approach not only jeopardizes the authenticity of the learning experience but also neglects the diverse talents and strengths of students. The pressing challenge is to align the changing technological environment with the need for assessment strategies that are both inclusive and effective. Cases on Authentic Assessment in Higher Education is a publication that acknowledges the challenge posed by technological disruptions and actively seeks to provide a solution. It stands as a resource for educators and administrators navigating the complexities of contemporary assessment. By advocating for a shift towards authentic assessments, the book not only addresses the concerns raised by ChatGPT but also provides a wealth of practical examples across diverse subject areas. These examples serve as a guide for educators, offering inspiration and adaptability to enhance their teaching methods and foster a more inclusive and engaging learning environment.

This volume presents multiple perspectives on the uses of the history of mathematics for teaching and learning, including the value of historical topics in challenging mathematics tasks, for provoking teachers’ reflection on the nature of mathematics, curriculum development questions that mirror earlier pedagogical choices in the history of mathematics education, and the history of technological innovations in the teaching and learning of mathematics. An ethnomathematical perspective on the history of mathematics challenges readers to appreciate the role of mathematics in perpetuating consequences of colonialism. Histories of the textbook and its uses offer interesting insights into how technology has changed the fundamental role of curriculum materials and classroom pedagogies. History is explored as a source for the training of teachers, for good puzzles and problems, and for a broad understanding of mathematics education policy. Third in a series of sourcebooks from the International Commission for the Study and Improvement of Mathematics Teaching, this collection of cutting-edge research, stories from the field, and policy implications is a contemporary and global perspective on current possibilities for the history of mathematics for mathematics education. This latest volume integrates discussions regarding history of mathematics, history of mathematics education and history of technology for education that have taken place at the Commission's recent annual conferences.

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into education reshapes how teaching, learning, and assessment are approached. AI in education uses foundational concepts from computer science, cognitive psychology, and pedagogy, personalizing learning experiences, automating administrative tasks, and providing real-time feedback. Frameworks guiding AI implementation enhance educational outcomes by making instruction more responsive and data driven. However, these frameworks must also account for ethical considerations, such as data privacy, algorithmic bias, and equitable access. By grounding AI technologies in educational theory and responsible design principles, organizations can create systems that support learners and educators in meaningful, inclusive ways. Foundations and Frameworks for AI in Education explores the transformative potential of AI in reshaping educational practices across all levels of learning. It provides a comprehensive examination of AI-driven tools and methodologies, including adaptive learning platforms, intelligent tutoring systems, and data-driven decision-making processes in education. This book covers topics such as data privacy, digital technology, and special education, and is a useful resource for educators, computer engineers, sociologists, academicians, researchers, and scientists.

Assessment Strategies For Online Learning written by Dianne Conrad and has been published by Athabasca University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-07-15 with Education categories.
Assessment has provided educational institutions with information about student learning outcomes and the quality of education for many decades. But has it informed practice and been fully incorporated into the learning cycle? Conrad and Openo argue that the potential inherent in many of the new learning environments being explored by educators and students has not been fully realized. In this investigation of a variety of assessment methods and learning approaches, the authors aim to discover the tools that engage learners and authentically evaluate education. They insist that moving to new learning environments, specifically those online and at a distance, afford opportunities for educators to adopt only the best practices of traditional face-to-face assessment while exploring evaluation tools made available by a digital learning environment in the hopes of arriving at methods that capture the widest set of learner skills and attributes.
