If you're a guy and you've started puberty, your body will have begun making the hormones necessary to help build muscle in response to weight training. If you haven't started puberty, or you're a girl, you'll still be able to get stronger - you just won't see your muscles getting much bigger. Before you start strength training, you should be checked out by your doctor to make sure it's safe for you to lift weights. And to reduce the risk of injury, it's important to learn proper technique and to be adequately supervised. Any time you start a new sport or activity, start out slowly so that your body gets used to the increase in activity. It's a good idea to initially perform the exercise without any weight to make sure you're using the proper technique. Once you've mastered the technique, you can gradually add weight as long as you can comfortably perform the exercise for 8 to 15 repetitions. Before you begin any type of strength training routine, get some guidance and expert advice. Many trainers who work at schools, gyms, and in weight rooms are knowledgeable about strength training, but it's best to get advice from someone who is a certified fitness expert and experienced working with teens. When lifting weights - either free weights or on a machine - make sure that there's always someone nearby to supervise, or spot, you. This person, called a spotter, encourages you and also can act as your coach, telling you if you're not doing a particular exercise correctly. Having a spotter nearby is particularly important when using free weights. Even someone in great shape sometimes just can't make that last rep. It's no big deal if you're doing biceps curls; all you'll have to do is drop the weight onto the floor. But if you're in the middle of a bench press - a chest exercise where you're lying on a bench and pushing a loaded barbell away from your chest - it's easy to become trapped under a heavy weight. A spotter can keep you from dropping the barbell onto your chest. Many schools offer weight or circuit training as units in their gym classes. Check to see if you can sign up. Don't be afraid to ask for pointers and tips about how much weight to start with and how to develop a routine. WHAT YOU WILL GET IN THIS BOOK: 1.INTRODUCTION 2.GETTING STARTED 3.What's a Healthy Routine? 4.WHAT IS STRENGTH TRAINING 5.Health benefits of resistance training 6.Why Weights Are Better Than Cardio for Fat Loss 7.10 strength-building strategies that will never die 8.50 Bodyweight Exercises You Can Do Anywhere

At some point, everyone who strength trains can benefit from picking up a barbell. Barbells help you perform foundational moves like deadlifts, squats, presses, and rows with far more weight than you can with dumbbells and kettlebells, While dumbbells and kettlebells get bigger, and harder to grip and maneuver the heavier they get, barbells stay the same size, thanks to the handy-dandy weight plates on the end. So, to keep yourself challenged in the weight room, growing, and getting stronger, at a certain point, barbells can be the most efficient way to make that happen. However, knowing that you should pick up a barbell and approaching one with confidence are two entirely different matters. Whenever I see a 'new-to-barbell' lifter venture over to the power rack, they look a bit timid, unsure, and overwhelmed. It's completely normal and part of getting out of your comfort zone. Here in this book titled Barbell Training, there's everything you need to know to get started with barbells to minimize discomfort and maximize results, you understand the basics of strength training and loads of information regarding expert barbell tips for beginners and lots more. Barbell Exercise Guide for Beginners Barbell exercises offer a wide range of benefits that make them a popular choice for individuals looking to build strength, increase muscle mass, and improve their overall fitness. Barbell exercises, such as squats, deadlifts, and bench presses, are excellent for building overall body strength. They engage multiple muscle groups simultaneously, promoting functional strength. Barbell training is an effective way to stimulate muscle growth. By progressively increasing the weight lifted, individuals can target specific muscle groups for size and definition. Weight-bearing exercises with barbells help enhance bone density, reducing the risk of osteoporosis and related bone disorders, especially in older adults. Strength training with barbells can increase metabolic rate and promote fat loss. Muscle tissue burns more calories at rest than fat tissue. Many barbell exercises mimic real-life movements, making them highly beneficial for improving functional fitness and athletic performance. Properly executed barbell exercises help strengthen the supporting muscles around joints, reducing the risk of injury. Barbells are a time-efficient way to work out, as they allow individuals to target multiple muscle groups in a single exercise, reducing the need for numerous isolation exercises. Using strength training as a fitness regime you're able to use resistance in order to not only make the skeletal muscles within your body stronger, but it also helps to increase their size and anaerobic endurance. When it comes to strength training there are many different types you can undertake. In this book "Strength Training For Beginners" I will explain in more detail about not only the benefits of strength training, but also how to get your training started. However before we look at these areas of I'm going to explain a little bit about where it originates. Up until the 20th Century, you'll find the history of strength training is very similar to that of weight training. However with the arrival of certain technologies, materials and knowledge that's come to light since the 20th Century the methods we now use as part of our strength-training regime have grown somewhat. In fact, if you were to look back at what has been written over the century's regarding strength training, it was something the Ancient Greeks were already doing. Certainly when you look at some of the pictures that appear on ancient Greek cups and plates you'll see images of men carrying things such as large animals on their back or lifting what seems to be a set of weights.

There is a difference between Exercise and Training. Exercise is physical activity for its own sake, a workout done for the effect it produces today, during the workout or right after you're through. Training is physical activity done with a longer-term goal in mind, the constituent workouts of which are specifically designed to produce that goal. Training is how athletes prepare to win, and how all motivated people approach physical preparation. "Strength Training" details the mechanics of the process, from the basic physiology of adaptation to the specific programs that apply these principles to novice, intermediate, and advanced lifters. This scientific and practical book shows that there is no single program that works for everyone, at all times and in all conditions. It addresses the complexity of strength training programs while providing straightforward approaches to take under specific circumstances. Those approaches are backed with physiological concepts, ensuring readers gain a full understanding of the science behind the practice of strength training. In addition, "Health Class" provide examples of strength training programs to demonstrate the principles and concepts they explain in the book.
