The first novel in a thrilling new legal series, perfect for fans of Steve Cavanagh, John Grisham and Robert Galbraith, written by an acclaimed QC. Elliot Rook QC is one of the greatest barristers of his generation. He is also a complete fraud. Elliot Rook is the epitome of a highly successful, old Etonian QC. Or so everyone believes. In fact, he is an ex-petty criminal with a past that he has spent decades keeping secret. Until now... An unidentified young woman of Middle Eastern origin has been found murdered on the outskirts of Rook's home town. Billy Barber – a violent football hooligan and white-supremacist – is accused of her murder. Barber insists that Rook must defend him. If Rook refuses, Barber will expose him, bringing crashing to the ground the life and career that Rook has spent his life building. The truth is there for the finding. But at what cost? POST MORTEM, the second novel in the series, is out now. Praise for the Elliot Rook QC series: '[A] thriller I found hard to put down' - Observer 'Slick and wonderfully paced, I was hooked from the opening pages. One of the best legal thrillers I have read recently, it reminded me of early Grisham' - AMW Books Blog 'A brilliant read' - A. N. Wilson, Tablet

The assassination of Mahatma Gandhi on 30 January 1948 was a declaration of war and a statement of intent. For the forces who conspired in the killing, the act was a declaration of war against the secular, democratic Indian state and all those who stood to affirm these principles, as well as an announcement of a lasting commitment to India as a ‘Hindu Rashtra’. It was also an act to signal the elimination of all that India’s national movement against imperialism stood for. Beyond Doubt is a dossier of historical and critical documents that aims to contextualize the politics, motivations and circumstances behind the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi. Attempts to legitimize the act of killing and to celebrate the killers have re-doubled since May 2014, following the coming to power of the new regime in New Delhi. The time is right, therefore, to set the record straight. The visceral hatred directed against Gandhi and the denigration of everything he stood for need to be recounted if we are to understand the political nature of that dastardly act. This book attempts to weave together archival documents from Government of India records relating to developments after the assassination, with translation of works in Marathi, Gujarati and Hindi de-constructing the ideology responsible for the political killing. While several of the documents have appeared before in issues of Communalism Combat, this compilation presents new material on the subject. The first English translation of Jagan Phadnis’s book, Mahatmyache Akher, forms part of the dossier, as do Y.D. Phadke’s analysis of attempts to legitimize Gandhi’s killing and Chunibhai Vaidya’s analysis of Pradeep Dalvi’s play on Godse. It also covers the recent controversy over the destruction of files relating to Gandhi’s assassination by Government of India.

Beyond Doubt A Logical Viewpoint For My Faith written by Anand Samuel and has been published by Paragon Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-06 with Religion categories.

Anand Samuel writes his book entitled "Beyond Doubt" with an inner conviction that comes through clearly. His lucid style and numerous personal illustrations make these deep truths and concepts very believable. Gautama Buddha is attributed to have said, "There is nothing more dreadful than the habit of doubt. Doubt separates people. It is a poison that disintegrates friendships and breaks up pleasant relations. It is a thorn that irritates and hurts; it is a sword that kills." Samuel aims to release people from their bondage to doubt onto happy and peaceful living. The world we live in has trapped many of us in various forms of personal imprisonment. Jesus Christ powerfully asserted - ..". you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free." Freedom is what everyone longs for. Samuel wishes for his readers to be set free in this world. Relationships are damaged. Individuals are enslaved. Trapped in doubt millions have surrendered their right to joy, peace and even love. "Beyond Doubt" promises to be a journey for the reader, taking you from doubt to faith. I recommend the book as an experience to rid your self of the major doubt i.e. a belief in a power beyond human existence, and then proceed to removing doubts that destroy harmony in everyday life. The most devastating and humbling reality a parent can experience is the death of a child. After Martha Rich's mother-in-law passed away in the late afternoon and her teenage son, William, failed to arrive home for the planning of his grandmother's memorial service, she knew something wasn't right. When the police rang Martha's doorbell at 2:30 a.m. to inform the family that William had died instantly in a head-on collision, she became aware of a presence of energy so close to her that her scalp tingled. The spirit of her son is the switch that turned this story on, and she is the circuit that carries it, but the real power lies in the miracle of life without end.

On 17th June, 1970, in a small farming district, south of Auckland, New Zealand, Harvey and Jeanette Crewe were shot and killed in the lounge of their home. Five months later, a neighbour, Arthur Allan Thomas, was arrested, charged and found guilty of their murder. He was sentenced to life imprisonment. A retrial in 1972 ended with another guilty verdict. David Yallop, author of To Encourage the Others and The Day the Laughter Stopped, two already celebrated books which dealt with miscarriages of justice, spent over a year in New Zealand investigating the case and became convinced of Thomas' innocence. in an open letter to New Zealand's Prime Minister, he demanded Thomas' release on the grounds that he 'has not been found guilty beyond reasonable doubt. He has in fact been found innocent beyond reasonable doubt.' In 1978, as a direct result of Yallop's intercession and the publication of this book, Thomas was granted a royal pardon and, in 1980, awarded nearly 1 million dollars in compensation for the nine years he had served behind bards. Beyond Reasonable Doubt? is both a riveting work of high drama and a compelling insight into the machinery of criminal justice. A Number One bestseller in hgardcover and the subject of a widely-acclaimed film, it is a lasting testimony to David Yallop's reputation as the world's greatest investigative author.

How long has it been since you held a negative thought and responded in a critical way? Think carefully. Consider all situations: a traffic jam, a slow computer, an unfriendly neighbor, a demeaning boss, a loss of money, an excessive bill, a headache, a defective purchase, a stubbed toe, a challenging child. Do you find that you experience criticism and judgment frequently? Do certain people and situations tend to annoy you? Are you someone who gets agitated and stressed often? Now stop and imagine a life of honest, genuine peace, deep stillness, boundless joy and imperturbability in any situation. Think about how people would treat one another if we all tapped into this God given right. Seem impossible? What an outrageous concept, some might say. Such a life could not possibly exist in todays world. Centuries, millennia in fact, prove that the world is in a state of chaos. Wars exist all around us. Poverty is abundant. Crime rears its ugly head from Wall Street to Main Street. Violence is witnessed even at peace rallies and in church parking lots. People pray and ask for forgiveness and then return to patterns of impatience, anger, greed, doubt and disbelief. Beyond Doubt offers a simple, four-step model, The Ring of Peace, to facilitate inner peace and joy in everyday life. The model teaches the seeker how to release any hidden guilt and doubt buried in the unconscious mind, thus altering perception of the world. It shows people how to see and experience the wisdom and peace of God, even in what might now seem like the most difficult circumstances. The challenge is to overcome the resistance the human ego puts forth a battle that has been going on in the collective mind since the fall from grace. Beware of this constraint, learn to understand it and let it go. Eternal flow and divine grace will follow. Be in-Spirit and you are inspired, a state of mind where fear and doubt cannot abide.
