This book "Biodiversity Conservation and Utilization in a Diverse World" sees biodiversity as management and utilization of resources in satisfying human needs in multi-sectional areas including agriculture, forestry, fisheries, wildlife and other exhaustible and inexhaustible resources. Its value is to fulfill actual human preferences and variability of life is measured by amount of genetic variation available. In viewing diversity as an ultimate moral value, one is faced with a situation in environmental preservation in order to allow components of total diversity to flourish and constitute a threat to continuous existence and decrease total diversity. The overall importance described economic benefits from bio-diversity, though difficult to measure and varying, but are limited on a local scale, increase on a regional or national scale and become potentially substantial on a transnational or global scale.

Biodiversity In Agriculture written by Kodoth Prabhakaran Nair and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-10-10 with Science categories.
This book begins with the principal subject of biodiversity in agriculture. The onslaught of highly soil extractive chemical farming, euphemistically called the “green revolution”, has taken a heavy toll on soil biodiversity, hence, soil sustenance. Agrobiodiversity is a key resource for humanity. All of the food requirements humanity depends on are met by agrobiodiversity. Similarly, fodder fiber, firewood, and many other basic needs of humankind are also met by agrobiodiversity. The book puts forward ideas on how we are to develop a sustainable future, to provide a healthy and thriving environment for humanity by protecting, conserving, and augmenting agrobiodiversity. The pedosphere, the outermost layer of the Earth, composed of soil and subject to soil formation processes, is an integral component of biosphere, lying on the interface of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, and lithosphere and a lot more complex in its physicochemical and biological characteristics and functioning and quite distinguishable from that of the above soil-surface terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. The biotic component of the pedosphere comprises a rich biodiversity of living species, dominated by microorganisms. This book considers and discusses the influences of soil formation processes. This book will be of interest to those engaged in researching biodiversity, agriculture, and crop science.

Community is a larger group than a family or society. The impact of people living together in a geographical location will be there on each other in terms of almost everything. Health is a factor which is largely proportionate to the environment and people around where an individual life. So, the health of the whole population living together affects others too. Whereas Health is a spectrum which is unique for every individual in a community but gets affected by community’s environment therefore it is responsibility of all members of community to maintain and follow healthful lifestyle. COMMUNITY: The origin of the word ‘community’ comes from the Latin word ‘munus’, which means the gift, and ‘cum’ which means together, among each other. Therefore, community literary means to give among each other. Community has some commonalities which is also referred as

The Imli Treatise On Global Ocean Governance written by David Joseph Attard and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-07-11 with Law categories.
The 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) remains the cornerstone of global ocean governance. However, it lacks effective provisions or mechanisms to ensure that all ocean space and related problems are dealt with holistically. With seemingly no opportunity for revision due to the Conventions burdensome amendment provisions, complementary mechanisms dealing with such aspects of global ocean governance including maritime transport, fisheries, and marine environmental sustainability, have been developed under the aegis of the United Nations and other relevant international organizations. This approach is inherently fragmented and unable to achieve sustainable global ocean governance. In light of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 14, the IMLI Treatise proposes a new paradigm on the basis of integrated and cross-sectoral approach in order to realise a more effective and sustainable governance regime for the oceans. This volume focuses on the role of the UN Specialized Agencies towards the development of effective and sustainable ocean governance by looking at the more elaborate mechanisms they developed in order to achieve the desired objectives laid down in UNCLOS. From FAO to UNODC, the volume examines how they ensure sustainable development and how much coordination exists among them.

To satisfy the food demands of the global population, advanced technology based research is needed, that can extract the information from the plant metabolism and microbial gene pool and use it for improving plant health and productivity. Modern biotechnological tools have the ability to unlock the limitations of agricultural practices. However, the application of these tools is not well equipped. Moreover, eco-friendly agriculture by microbial inoculants is known to have positive influences on soil/plant health. Therefore it is relevant to explore the plant associated microbial niches, especially endophytes, epiphytes, and soil microbes and understand how they are benefitting each other. It can open new insights to develop sustainable agriculture practices by using consortia of microbes as plant helpers that recover the imbalanced agriculture systems and manage pathogenic diseases. This book presents the updates about the plant associated microbiomes and their contemporary uses. It covers the knowledge gap between soil and plant helper microbiomes and their application in the agriculture and allied sectors. Modern insights of phytobiomes are explored in various chapters on a variety of interrelated aspects of the fascinating areas like plant microbial interaction, integrated pest management, soil fertility intensification, sustainable crop production, and disease management. Sections in the book describe how to plant beneficial microbiomes have been utilized for sustainable green farming, with the aim to resolve the global food problem without harming the soil and environment health. This book is intended for everyone who is involved in agriculture, microbial biotechnology, bioinformatics, and all disciplines related to microbial biotechnology. These include academic students, scientists, and researchers at universities, institutes, industries, and government organizations who want to understand microbial linkages in a shorter time. It contains basic information that will be help to the non-specialist readers to understand progressive research.

Soil Biological Communities And Ecosystem Resilience written by Martin Lukac and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-10-06 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This volume explores current knowledge and methods used to study soil organisms and to attribute their activity to wider ecosystem functions. Biodiversity not only responds to environmental change, but has also been shown to be one of the key drivers of ecosystem function and service delivery. Soil biodiversity in tree-dominated ecosystems is also governed by these principles, the structure of soil biological communities is clearly determined by environmental, as well as spatial, temporal and hierarchical factors. Global environmental change, together with land-use change and ecosystem management by humans, impacts the aboveground structure and composition of tree ecosystems. Due to existing knowledge of the close links between the above- and belowground parts of terrestrial ecosystems, we know that soil biodiversity is also impacted. However, very little is known about the nature of these impacts; effects on the overall level of biodiversity, the magnitude and diversity of functions soil biodiversity generates, but also on the present and future stability of tree ecosystems and soils. Even though much remains to be learned about the relationships between soil biodiversity and tree ecosystem functionality, it is clear that better effort needs to be made to describe and understand key processes which take place in soils and are driven by soil biota.
