Some would say, "Now is not the time to talk about race in politics. America is divided and needs to be united." Alice Patterson demonstrates that now is the time to discuss what has divided us and how to bring transformation to our nation. In this book you will find reconciliation and racial healing in an unlikely place-the political arena. Is God interested in politics? Does He want you to get involved? Can ordinary citizens have real power instead of just influence? Can we empower evil powers without even realizing it? Is tolerance a virtue or a sin? These answers and more are found in Bridging the Racial & Political Divide.

"Bridging the Racial Divide with the Cross of Christ" brings to life both biblical and historical truths of the racial divide, beginning with the origin of sin and broken relationships to where we are today as a nation. The book shines a light on the racial divide from Slavery, through Segregation, to the present era that the author, Chaplain Maceo Gray, Th.M has defined as Subordination. The book biblically shows that racial prejudice is a sin and the sin is pride. Therefore, the solution is repentance with transformed hearts. The book also debunks biblical racial myths with Scriptures and highlights biblical Truths. Chaplain Gray tells of his own families' ancestral experiences as slaves through Segregation and his personal challenges of growing up in the south during the Modern Civil Rights movements. He covers the challenges and blessings of being the first African American engineer hired in the Engineering Division of the Bendix Corporation in 1963. He also shares how the Lord led him and his family to become the first African American members of an all-white Southern Baptist church, where he has been a member since 1978 after moving to the practically all-white Kansas City suburbs. The church ordained him as a deacon and licensed and ordained him to the gospel ministry. In tracking the historical perspective of the racial divide, Chaplain Gray has researched and loaded the book with over 140 full-color copies of pictures and official documents to illustrate and authenticate the insightful historical Timeline. The book includes information from officials Chaplain Gray interviewed at the Supreme Court Brown vs. the Board of Education National Historic site in Topeka, KS, and the John Brown State Monument site in Osawatomie, KS. The 8 by 10 inches full-color book includes 330 pages. It is ideal for personal study and application, family devotions, Sunday School, Cell Groups, Bible colleges, and seminaries. The racial divide Timeline shows progress has been made and provides hope through Jesus Christ for complete Racial Reconciliation as Chaplain Gray shows how Racial Reconciliation Ambassadors can be used to glorify God and benefit humanity.

I present to you my eighteenth book entitled Red Coconut: Bridging the Racial Divide. Bridging the racial divide is what I do every day, and my collection of poems and essays this year speaks precisely of this. A man who picked up a dying fish as he and his friend walked the seashore was asked, Why do you do that? You cannot save all these dying fishes! He replied, But it made a world of difference to this one! One heart at a time, one community a time, we can make a difference.

Divided Sisters written by Midge Wilson and has been published by Doubleday this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1996 with Fiction categories.

Since the advent of the women's movement, women have often expressed the belief that black and white women in society have a great many common concerns, and are in fact natural allies. The reality is more sobering. In Divided Sisters, Midge Wilson and Kathy Russell, the acclaimed authors of The Color Complex, tackle the nature of relationships between black and white women, and explore how they do, and don't, get along. Based on scores of interviews, cultural literature and extensive research, Divided Sisters examines relations between black and white women as children, as adults, at school and in college, at work and at home. Truthfully as adults relatively few women feel they are close friends with a woman from another racial background. The book exposes many of the challenges and obstacles that complicate interracial relationships in a society with a long history of racial inequality. What Midge and Kathy discover is that the concerns and frustrations of black and white women are often different, and that these differences are frequently not communicated. For example, women thrown together for the first time in college are often ill-prepared to handle cultural differences in dress, customs, attitudes and background. In addition, peer pressure, economic and historical inequality, real or perceived racism, and fear, play a role in dividing rather than uniting women. Divided Sisters is a landmark book that will open readers' eyes to the realities and challenges of bridging what is too frequently a cultural divide."

Bridging The Higher Education Divide written by Century Foundation Task Force on Preventing Community Colleges from Becoming Separate and Unequal and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013 with Education categories.

Education has always been a key driver in our nation's struggle to promote social mobility and widen the circle of people who can enjoy the American Dream. No set of educational institutions better embodies the promise of equal opportunity than community colleges. Two-year colleges have opened the doors of higher education for low-income and working-class students as never before, and yet, community colleges often lack the resources to provide the conditions for student success. Furthermore, there is a growing racial and economic stratification between two- and four-year colleges, producing harmful consequences. Bridging the Higher Education Divide faces those grave realities in unblinking fashion. Led by co-chairs Anthony Marx, the president of the New York Public Library and former president of Amherst College, and Eduardo Padron, the president of Miami Dade College, the task force recommends ways to reduce the racial and economic stratification and create new outcomes-based funding in higher education, with a much greater emphasis on providing additional public supports based on student needs. The report also contains three background papers: "Community Colleges in Context: Exploring Financing of Two- and Four-Year Institutions" by Sandy Baum of George Washington University and Charles Kurose, an independent consultant for the College Board; "School Integration and the Open Door Philosophy: Rethinking the Economic and Racial Composition of Community Colleges" by Sara Goldrick-Rab and Peter Kinsley of the University of Wisconsin-Madison; and "The Role of the Race, Income, and Funding on Student Success: An Institutional-Level Analysis of California Community Colleges" by Tatiana Melguizo and Holly Kosiewicz of the University of Southern California.
