O Caderno de Pesquisas Educacionais - volume 3 - que ora apresentamos a comunidade acadêmica, sobretudo, ao Vale do Arinos manifesta a expressão de um compromisso político assumido por um grupo de professores da Universidade do Estado de Mato Grosso, Campus Universitário de Juara que empenhadamente se dedicou em fortalecer as ações de ensino, pesquisa e extensão. Com esse compromisso, formamos vários pedagogos que já atuam em diferentes contextos da educação, seja na docência ou em cursos de pós-graduação. Atualmente, a oferta de Pós-Graduação Lato Sensu Educação e Diversidade (já concluída) e Docência no Ensino Superior (em execução) traduz um dos muitos compromissos que esse grupo de professores/pesquisadores assumiu junto à população do Vale do Arinos. Assim, o Caderno de Pesquisas Educacionais traz parte do resultado de estudos materializados em formato de artigos originados das pesquisas realizadas a partir das ações da Pós-Graduação em Educação e Diversidade. Em conjunto com esse trabalho, apresentamos, também, produções de colaboradores externos. A FAPEMAT e, mais recentemente, a CAPES têm sido responsáveis pelo financiamento de Projetos de Pesquisa e Extensão com Interface a Pesquisa, como Novos Talentos e Programa de Iniciação à Docência (PIBID). As ações decorrentes destes projetos e do PIBID têm oportunizado condições de atendimento a um expressivo público para além dos muros da universidade, como escolas públicas: do campo, da cidade, escolas indígenas da Terra Indígena Apiaká-Kaiabi do Vale do Arinos. Agradecemos, de forma especial, a todos os colaboradores na concretude de significativos projetos em um território distante dos grandes centros do País.

Through in-depth socio-historical analysis of discourses and processes of quantification around school performance and student failure rates in Brazil, this volume highlights the prevalence of Eurocentric colonized thought that results in the persistence of exclusion bottlenecks; different trajectories according to gender, race, and class; and significant regional variations in the rates of failure and dropout, among other problems.
