Ce livre est le carnet de note du caporal François, Joseph, Léon Tournissa mon arrière grand-père. Son journal débute le 02 Aout 1914 à Philippeville en Algérie (aujourd'hui Skikda) jour de mobilisation et se termine le 25 juin 1916 à Baccarat (Meurthe et Moselle) 3 jours avant sa mort. Ce récit est le quotidien d'un de ces "lignards" comme on appelait les soldats de ligne. Une vie pénible, une omniprésence de la mort et des conditions de vie déplorables. Je n'ai fait que retranscrire, au travers de cet ouvrage, les propos de Léon Tournissa sans en changer un seul mot. C'est sa vision de la guerre qui est ici écrite. J'ai juste ajouté les évènements marquants de l'actualité de l'époque, tant sur le plan économique, scientifique ou culturel. Ce journal est accompagné chaque mois d'une revue de presse relatant ces évènements.

Robyn Maynard provides readers with the first comprehensive account of nearly four hundred years of state-sanctioned surveillance, criminalization and punishment of Black lives in Canada. While highlighting the ubiquity of Black resistance, Policing Black Lives traces the still-living legacy of slavery across multiple institutions, shedding light on the state’s role in perpetuating contemporary Black poverty and unemployment, racial profiling, law enforcement violence, incarceration, immigration detention, deportation, exploitative migrant labour practices, disproportionate child removal and low graduation rates.
