For too many years, the academic discipline of history has ignored American Indians or lacked the kind of open-minded thinking necessary to truly understand them. Most historians remain oriented toward the American experience at the expense of the Native experience. As a result, both the status and the quality of Native American history have suffered and remain marginalized within the discipline. In this impassioned work, noted historian Donald L. Fixico challenges academic historians—and everyone else—to change this way of thinking. Fixico argues that the current discipline and practice of American Indian history are insensitive to and inconsistent with Native people’s traditions, understandings, and ways of thinking about their own history. In Call for Change, Fixico suggests how the discipline of history can improve by reconsidering its approach to Native peoples. He offers the “Medicine Way” as a paradigm to see both history and the current world through a Native lens. This new approach paves the way for historians to better understand Native peoples and their communities through the eyes and experiences of Indians, thus reflecting an insightful indigenous historical ethos and reality.

Life itself has no significance without purpose. Life without purpose is life in the clutch of repetitive cycles of monotonous routines. Purpose is the unique quality that each person is born with that describes your influence, impact, and inspiration you have upon those around you and ultimately the world. Purpose is not what you practiced in your past, but it deals with what you prepare yourself to do next. The path to next demands change. The call to change is a practical guide that will uncover the Biblical principles essential to effective change. God is calling (inviting) you to a place beyond your talents, skills, and strengths to a time outside of your normalcy. Get ready to journey into next, this voyage is vital to your future. Be bold, be strong and very courageous, and go for it. This is your time and your turn to answer the call to change.

Questioning the Unquestionable to Think the Unthinkable and See the Invisible One thing that used to make me uncomfortable and bother me when I was growing up was that when I looked around almost everybody was like everybody else, doing what everybody was doing, making the same jokes, thinking thoughts that everybody was thinking, heading in the same direction; for example, I would see five small kiosks selling the same things on the same street. When someone started a business, a dozen others would start doing the same thing; my view was that everything looked to be at standstill, and I used to question this deep down in my heart and that still bothers me till today because nobody is supposed to be like nobody: I used to go to boarding school, stay, come back, and still find nothing has changed nothing different, no progress. In fact, it looked like things were moving backward; this used to depress me. Nothing changes in our life until we change.' This does not mean that change cannot happen unless we do; there is a certain type of external change that happens even if we do not; for example, your body changes with or without your permission. Environment change is another example; however, unless we change things can never change in our lives. You see, if we keep on thinking the same thoughts doing the same things like the past generations did, we will not move forward but be at a standstill, and the problems with history repeating itself is that it teaches us what we have already seen and takes us to where we have already been and to see what we have seen.

Change What Change written by Geoffrey Hackett and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Business & Economics categories.

I am always surprised by the number of knowledgeable and dynamic people who when they earnestly desire that things should be different throw themselves enthusiastically and with renewed vigor into doing more of the things they've done before. When you get down to talking with them this is nearly always based on the fact that they are so fearful of the uncertainties of change that rather than plan or learn to manage change, which commonsense would dictate to be the solution to their needs, they would far rather endure even more of that which they are seeking to alter. Why the fear? Often because people will not communicate or share their ideas in case they are dismissed. I am always impressed that the majority of significant changes, and especially those that have endured the test of time, did not explode onto the scene, were not monumental events, were not the creations of super-humans, but the ideas of normal everyday thinkers and creators, ordinary people who wanted to influence change, whose concepts took years to come to light and often lifetimes to be recognized or used to their full potential.

Our world and our way of life are rapidly changing. Natural disasters and political and economic upheaval across the globe point to the need for a shift in belief, awareness and perception, as well as the need for an elevation of human consciousness. Enter Ascended Master Saint Germain, who offers to coach us toward self-mastery and encourages us to embrace change with an open, willing and adventurous spirit. In Our World, Our Choice: A Call to Change, Saint Germain speaks to us through his chosen medium, author and healer Annie Templeton, leading us in our search for answers, strength and unity in this time of chaos. Templeton reveals her own very human struggles as she explores her continuing work with Saint Germain, allowing us to connect with the insights and wonder he brought to her life. We are all connected, and we can all benefit from such a wise and nonjudgmental life coach. As we turn our focus on what we, as individuals and communities, can do to create rich new ways of being, we release the fears and negative patterns that no longer serve us and embrace self-belief, courage, vitality and creative vision. A greater sense of purpose awaits us; we create better tomorrows through consistent positive action todaynow. It is time.

Translanguaging In Efl Contexts written by Michael Rabbidge and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-03-26 with Education categories.

The purpose of this book is to promote the value of translanguaging in EFL teaching contexts. To date, translanguaging has been discussed mostly in regards to US and European contexts. This book will examine the teaching beliefs and practices of teachers within a South Korean elementary school context to evaluate the practices of current teachers who use translanguaging strategies when teaching. This examination utilizes sociological theories of pedagogic discourse to discuss the consequences of language exclusion policies on the peninsula. Using these theories, it presents an argument for why EFL contexts like South Korea need to reevaluate their current policies and understandings of language learning and teaching. By embracing translanguaging as an approach, the author argues, they will transform their traditional notions of language learning and teaching in order to view teachers as bilinguals, and learners as emerging bilinguals, rather than use terms of deficiency that have traditionally been in place for such contexts. This book's unique use of sociological theories of pedagogic discourse supports a need to promote the translanguaging ideology of language teaching and learning.

Moving beyond the process of change Why is change so hard? Because in order to make any transformation successful, you must change more than just the structure and operations of an organization—you need to change people’s behavior. And that is never easy. The Heart of Change is your guide to helping people think and feel differently in order to meet your shared goals. According to bestselling author and renowned leadership expert John Kotter and coauthor Dan Cohen, this focus on connecting with people’s emotions is what will spark the behavior change and actions that lead to success. Now freshly designed, The Heart of Change is the engaging and essential complement to Kotter’s worldwide bestseller Leading Change. Building off of Kotter’s revolutionary eight-step process, this book vividly illustrates how large-scale change can work. With real-life stories of people in organizations, the authors show how teams and individuals get motivated and activated to overcome obstacles to change—and produce spectacular results. Kotter and Cohen argue that change initiatives often fail because leaders rely too exclusively on data and analysis to get buy-in from their teams instead of creatively showing or doing something that appeals to their emotions and inspires them to spring into action. They call this the see-feel-change dynamic, and it is crucial for the success of any true organizational transformation. Refreshingly clear and eminently practical, The Heart of Change is required reading for anyone facing the challenges inherent in leading change.
