Many people are unaware of how influential Mormons have been on American popular culture. This book parts the curtain and looks behind the scenes at the little-known but important influence Mormons have had on popular culture in the United States and beyond. Mormons and Popular Culture: The Global Influence of an American Phenomenon provides an unprecedented, comprehensive treatment of Mormons and popular culture. Authored by a Mormon studies librarian and author of numerous writings regarding Mormon folklore, culture, and history, this book provides students, scholars, and interested readers with an introduction and wide-ranging overview of the topic that can serve as a key reference book on the topic. The work contains fascinating coverage on the most influential Mormon actors, musicians, fashion designers, writers, artists, media personalities, and athletes. Some topics—such as the Mormon influence at Disney, and how Mormon inventors have assisted in transforming American popular culture through the inventions of television, stereophonic sound, video games, and computer-generated animation—represent largely unknown information. The broad overview of Mormons and American popular culture offered can be used as a launching pad for further investigation; researchers will find the references within the book's well-documented chapters helpful.

A new classroom practice known as Linguistically Appropriate Practice (LAP) offers guidance for those working with young children who arrive in childcare centres and schools with little or no proficiency in the classroom language. Linguistically Appropriate Practice details over fifty classroom activities that can be adapted to match both the developmental level of the children and the classroom curriculum. Intended for childcare staff, health care providers, settlement workers, speech and language pathologists, kindergarten and primary grade teachers, family resource workers, and literacy specialists, this book is an essential resource for preparing young children for the complex communication and literacy demands of the twenty-first century.

This book is a work of love by a very loving person who is providing several Bible references and explaining you must put on the whole armor of God. Also, it is a work of love for her fellow man and woman; it tells God's love and direction in life and various subjects which are very controversial, being absolutely honest and forthright and hoping to keep the subject grounded with the Word of God. Bottom line: how we survive the happenings of things to us in life is by always keeping God's word for our direction in life. This book is also about the natural order of judgment and how women and men should respect the order of living of their lives as God intended them as to natural order. God always clears the way for us, and in general, this book has a lot of direction from our heavenly Father and contains miracles and blessings from God. It's about love and prayer to God. Also, this book explains how to pray to God, our Father in heaven. It explains how our souls were created before the foundation of the earth. This book speaks of heaven and the author's opinion of some of heaven; it also contains the beauty of Christianity. May the Holy Spirit swoop down on you like a great eagle and reach you within your soul when you read this book.

Love and Life: How People Describe Them Everybody Wants them, But What Are They?) Reminds me of a song by the band. Foreigner: “I Want to Know What Love Is!” which is sung by numerous artists, so compelling is the message, that it captures our hearts and imaginations. From a life of heartache and pain, the protagonist doggedly continues on his search for love, hence the title of the song: “I Want to Know What Love Is!” Clearly the protagonist has never had any rewarding experience of love, that is our first inference. Second, we hope that he has NOT put the rest of his life “on hold”, while he waits for love to drop into his lap. Third, we get the impression that he is labouring under some sort of a handicap, or that he is trying too hard! Have you ever heard this said about love? “Love is like a butterfly, the more you chase it the more it eludes you. But if you quietly turn your attention to other things, it comes and alights softly on your shoulder!” The first part of the statement is definitely true. The second part, “whether it will come and sit softly on your shoulder at some point” - will depend on the handicaps/circumstances of your life. One thing is for sure: turning your attention to other things, if they are worthwhile, will make you grow and mature as a person. Never a truer statement than this: “Happiness is making a bouquet out of those flowers within reach”. However you define “flowers”, perhaps something creative that brings happiness to you as well as others - could that also be seen as a form of happiness??!!!
