Cement Based Composites written by A. M. Brandt and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1995 with Composite materials categories.

This book considers the properties and behaviour of cement-based materials from the point of view of composite science and technology. It deals particularly with newer forms of cement-based materials and also with a composite approach to conventional materials. Emphasis is put on non-conventional reinforcement and design methods, problems at interfaces in the materials and on durability of structures made with them. High strength composites and novel forms of cement-based composites are described in detail. In the first chapters, the basic ideas of composites are introduced. The next four chapters are concerned with the various components of these materials and their properties. The next section deals with mechanical properties and considers characteristics under various loading and environmental conditions. In the final chapters relating to design, optimization and economics are considered with particular emphases on high-performance concretes. The book will be valuable for researchers, graduate and post-graduate students and practising engineers concerned withvarious kinds of concretes.; The book will be valuable for researchers, graduate and post-graduate sutdents and practising engineers concerned with various kinds of concretes and cement-based composites.

This is the first book on Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC), an advanced concrete material attracting world-wide attention in both the academic community and in industry. The book presents a comprehensive coverage of the material design methodology, processing methodology, mechanical and durability properties, smart functions, and application case studies. It combines effective use of illustrations, graphical data, and tables. It de-emphasizes mathematics in favor of physical understanding. The book serves as an introduction to the subject matter, or as a reference to those conducting research in ECC. It will also be valuable to engineers who need to quickly search for relevant information in a single comprehensive text.

Among all building materials, concrete is the most commonly used-and there is a staggering demand for it. However, as we strive to build taller structures with improved seismic resistance or durable pavement with an indefinite service life, we require materials with better performance than the conventional materials used today. Considering the enor

Deterioration of cement-based materials is a continuing problem, as it results in the substantial shortening of the lives of conventional concrete structures. The main costs result from poor performance and the need for early repair. With more advanced applications, where very long service lives are essential, such as the storage of nuclear waste, an understanding of the degradation processes in order to predict long term performance is very important. this book forms the proceedings of the latest Symposia at the Materials Research Society Autumn meeting in Boston.

This book systematically discusses the workability, mechanical properties, water stability, and material design methods of ultra-high ductility magnesium phosphate cement-based composites (UHDMC) with PVA fibers, PE fibers, or hybrid fibers. The developed UHDMC possesses strain-hardening behavior, multi-cracking, and ultra-high ultimate tensile strain, which can be used in many engineering projects, such as rapid repair and strengthening of airport runways, roads, bridges, and military installations. Meanwhile, this book covers the development of sprayable UHDMC, which further expands the application scope of UHDMC. This book is expected to provide some technical guidance for the development and design of UHDMC. The book is intended for graduate students who are interested in the ductility improvement of magnesium phosphate cement-based composites, researchers investigating the mechanical properties (strength, toughness, etc.), water stability, microstructure, and sprayabilityof magnesium phosphate cement-based composites, and engineers working on rapid repair of concrete structures.

Multifunctional Cement-Based Sensors for Intelligent Infrastructure: Design, Fabrication and Application covers the development and use of cement-based sensors for monitoring structural health, durability, and environmental conditions in concrete infrastructure. Monitoring the performance and condition of bridges, buildings, and roads improves safety and longevity while preventing failures and reducing maintenance costs. Cement-based sensors offer low cost, ease of installation, and compatibility with existing building materials, and can also provide real-time monitoring data to detect and diagnose potential issues before they become major problems. This book sets out the principles of the sensing mechanisms, fabrication techniques, and performance evaluation along with several case studies. It also provides a glimpse into a future where concrete structures will not only stand as pillars of strength but also become an indispensable part of smart cities as the core of automation. The book suits researchers, engineers, and practitioners involved in design, construction, and maintenance of concrete buildings and infrastructure. Wengui Li is a Scientia Associate Professor in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering and the group leader of Intelligent Concrete and Infrastructure Materials in the Centre for Infrastructure Engineering and Safety (CIES) at The University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney), Australia.
