Training load is a critical component of athletic development, which involves manipulating various parameters, such as training intensity, volume, frequency, and density, to promote positive adaptations in the athlete's performance. However, training load can also have negative effects, such as excessive fatigue, injuries, and overtraining, which can impair the athlete's performance and health. It is therefore crucial to understand how training load can be optimized to improve athletic performance and minimize associated risks. This Research Topic aims to provide a current perspective on the knowledge and challenges associated with the effects of careful manipulation and load management to optimize performance and promote the health of athletes from different sports and competitive levels. The results obtained may be of particular importance for identifying the best and most current load prescription practices in different sports, as well as preventive and treatment interventions for injuries related to excessive training. Furthermore, research can provide information about the physiological mechanisms underlying the relationship between training load and athletic performance, which can be useful in developing new, more efficient and safer training strategies.

Africa is confronted with the triple burden of malnutrition; it is also faced with the triple challenges of poverty, inequality and unemployment. In many African countries, large proportions of the population rely on agriculture not only for their food - but also for their livelihoods. A transformed agricultural and food system is thus a necessary condition for addressing this double-triple challenge. Additionally, post harvest and food waste and losses reduce the availability of sufficient quantities of safe, edible and preferable foods. At least one third of food produced at farm level is lost due to inappropriate storage, infrastructure and agro-processing technologies in developing countries; and one third of food purchased is wasted at household and retail level.

Consisting of six chapters corresponding to the thematic areas of the conference, and written by scientists and practitioners from different regions of Russia, Kazakhstan, the Czech Republic and Germany, the book offers answers to the most pressing questions for today’s business community: - How is our world changing under the influence of digital technology? - Is sustainable economic development a myth or reality in the context of digitalization? - What threats and opportunities does digitalization bring? - What are realities and prospects of digitalization in the context of business practice? - How do we create a digital infrastructure for the economy? - How should the legal environment of the economy be transformed in the context of digitalization? The conclusions and recommendations presented are not recipes for solving the existing economic problems, but instead are intended for use in further research on transformation processes in the economy and in the development of state economic policies in various countries and regions.

Ethiopia has experienced impressive agricultural growth and poverty reduction, stemming in part from substantial public investments in agriculture. Yet, the agriculture sector now faces increasing land and water constraints along with other challenges to growth. Ethiopia’s Agrifood System: Past Trends, Present Challenges, and Future Scenarios presents a forward-looking analysis of Ethiopia’s agrifood system in the context of a rapidly changing economy. Growth in the agriculture sector remains essential to continued poverty reduction in Ethiopia and will depend on sustained investment in the agrifood system, especially private sector investment. Many of the policies for a successful agricultural and rural development strategy for Ethiopia are relevant for other African countries, as well. Ethiopia’s Agrifood System should be a valuable resource for policymakers, development specialists, and others concerned with economic development in Africa south of the Sahara.

This book discusses the current technology and future status of diesel engines. While gasoline engines are preferred for speed and jet engines, diesel engines are widely used in vehicles and machinery that require torque, such as ships, trains, tanks, unmanned ariel vehicles (UAVs), and heavy-duty vehicles. Some recent research on global climate change has focused on obtaining zero carbon, zero emissions, and decarbonization via clean combustion technologies. For this reason, restrictive emission regulations have forced engine manufacturers and research centers to turn to different technologies to achieve clean combustion in diesel engines. This book focuses on different combustion technologies, from artificial intelligence applications in diesel engines to alternative fuels. It discusses the roles of artificial intelligence in the design of diesel engines, the use of different fuels in diesel engines, and the effects of these on the performance and emission values of diesel engines. Solving the challenge of hydrogen storage in hydrogen-fed diesel engines will open a new era for internal combustion engines. In particular, the use of hydrogen fuel produced by the reaction of chemical ingredients with water in diesel engine cycles will have a significant impact on the industry. This book, which brings together the latest studies on clean combustion technologies, is an interesting resource for both industry and research centers.

Management, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Challenging Global Times begins to address the need for a response to unprecedented global situations that require large-scale cooperation as well as individual organizational and institutional changes. Embodying the proceedings of the 16th International Symposium in Management, held in Timisoara, Romania in October 2021, this book gathers interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary studies, which highlight less-high-profile research concepts in management and industrial engineering. The contributions discuss details of state-of-the-art business-process-management techniques that integrate innovative methods with technologies that promote organizational agility. The methodologies used are sparking breakthroughs in entrepreneurship, financial management, supply-chain management and sustainability management. Other contributions deal with the important process of digitization, which underlies the Industry 4.0 idea and raises issuesacross the fields discussed in this volume. Related areas, such as management-information systems and business philosophies that adapt and use contemporary approaches to maximize organizational knowledge feature among the contributions. Similarly, reflecting the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in catalyzing economic growth, part of the book focuses on a set of tools and techniques designed for their benefit. This book assembles contributions from international sources that will help researchers and students interested in industrial and business management to tackle problems that persist from the economic crisis of the late 2000s right up to those that arise as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic of the early 2020s.
