The primary purpose of this revision remains identical to that of the first edition--to show how key personality, cognitive/behavioral, and vocational tests/assessment procedures can be used by counselors in their work with clients. Too often, assessment books only provide the reader with information about tests and assessment procedures. They do not, however, take the next step--showing readers how these tests/assessment procedures can be used and integrated into the actual work of counseling. This revision is designed to fill that void. Chapter authors, all of whom are experts in their respective topic areas, share the theoretical and research backgrounds about a particular test/assessment procedure and then provide a case example or examples to show how assessment data can be meaningfully incorporated into the counseling process.

Information Technology In Health Science Education written by E. de Land and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-11-11 with Medical categories.

This first volume is but an introduction to the growing use of computer-based systems in health-science education. It is unlikely that the intellectual or applied system constructs herein are either exhaustive of the field or immutable; growth is inevitable. For one thing, the field is still fractured and loosely organized, which is an inevitable description of an adolescent science in a rich mine of ideas. There is emerging, however, an organizing concept. A short look into the future indicates that educational system design will be dominated by a concept which, for want of a better term, we may call an "information system." Actually, this term de rives from an early New York World's Fair exhibition designed by Charles Eames entitled the "Informational Machine," in which the designer illustrated once again his insight into the future by showing how in a fundamental manner the digital computer promised to affect and to change our lives; and this change is by no means completed. Even during the publication of this volume, the basic sciences re quisite to the development of an information machine have evolved significantly. The three intellectual areas to watch are developments in artificial intelligence, graphics and man/machine interaction, and basic component and computer system design.

Research coursework has long been a recognized component of counselor preparation programs. Originally published in 1991, this groundbreaking book was designed to provide graduate students with an introduction to different types of counseling research (e.g., outcomes, processes, interventions), the variables and issues of relevance to know about in regard to research, and information about implementing research. Whenever possible, the text utilizes a real-world, practical approach showing the reader how to engage in various forms of counseling research inquiry. It is divided into three sections which cover the foundations of, approaches to, and issues and innovations in this realm of study. Other areas explored include philosophy of science, ethics, and the computer and counseling research. Written by experts in the field, the chapters offer a comprehensive, thorough analysis that can have implications for theory building, model building, and counseling practice.
