Working women today are better educated and more well qualified than ever before. Yet men still predominate in the corporate world. In The Confidence Code, Claire Shipman and Katty Kay argue that the key reason is confidence. Combining cutting-edge research in genetics, gender, behavior, and cognition—with examples from their own lives and those of other successful women in politics, media, and business—Kay and Shipman go beyond admonishing women to "lean in."Instead, they offer the inspiration and practical advice women need to close the gap and achieve the careers they want and deserve.

Confidence Keys offers a comprehensive guide to building lasting self-esteem and projecting confidence in all areas of life, emphasizing that confidence isn't innate but a skill to be learned. It explores the psychological roots of self-esteem, drawing from attachment theory, CBT, and social learning theory to show how our early experiences and thought patterns shape our self-perception. The book uniquely integrates internal and external strategies, providing actionable techniques for overcoming self-doubt and embracing your authentic self. The book progresses systematically, beginning with an exploration of self-esteem's foundations and the factors influencing it. Readers then learn how to challenge negative thoughts through cognitive restructuring and mindfulness practices, fostering a more positive self-image. Finally, it delves into confident self-presentation through effective communication and body language, providing concrete strategies for social interactions. The book also acknowledges the importance of developing realistic self-esteem, avoiding the pitfalls of unfounded high self-regard. By presenting case studies, empirical research, and practical exercises, Confidence Keys provides a holistic approach to personal growth. Whether you're looking to improve your relationships, enhance your career, or simply boost your self-worth, this book offers the tools and insights needed to unlock your full potential through improved self-confidence and genuine self-esteem.

Confidence Culture written by Shani Orgad and has been published by Duke University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-12-06 with Social Science categories.

In Confidence Culture, Shani Orgad and Rosalind Gill argue that imperatives directed at women to “love your body” and “believe in yourself” imply that psychological blocks rather than entrenched social injustices hold women back. Interrogating the prominence of confidence in contemporary discourse about body image, workplace, relationships, motherhood, and international development, Orgad and Gill draw on Foucault’s notion of technologies of self to demonstrate how “confidence culture” demands of women near-constant introspection and vigilance in the service of self-improvement. They argue that while confidence messaging may feel good, it does not address structural and systemic oppression. Rather, confidence culture suggests that women—along with people of color, the disabled, and other marginalized groups—are responsible for their own conditions. Rejecting confidence culture’s remaking of feminism along individualistic and neoliberal lines, Orgad and Gill explore alternative articulations of feminism that go beyond the confidence imperative.

“I can’t remember the last time I finished reading a book and wanted to applaud…. Life-changing.”—Heidi Grant Halvorson, PhD, author of Focus If you picked up this book because you want to increase your confidence, you are not alone. Like most people, you probably think that being highly confident would make you more likable, more employable, and more successful. But you’d be wrong. In this paradigm-shifting book, world-renowned personality expert Dr. Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic reveals that, beyond making you feel good, high confidence has no genuine benefits, and it may even be self-destructive. Low confidence, however, helps us make realistic risk assessments, protects us from disastrous situations, and encourages us to become more competent—which is the real key to achievement. Intelligent and thought-provoking, Confidence shows you how to make your insecurities work for you in every facet of life. “Maybe you have always intuited…that all the talk about boosting self-confidence and raising self-esteem is not the answer to success or happiness. This charming and thoroughly fact-based book will give you the evidence to back your wisdom, that being kind and competent works best.”—Elaine Aron, PhD, author of The Highly Sensitive Person and The Undervalued Self

Do you feel confident at work? Are there times when you lack confidence but can’t show it? The role of confidence in successful leadership is both significant and undisputed and yet organisations are full of leaders and teams who don’t have as much as they want and, even worse, are not doing anything about it. Attempts to develop confidence are usually confined to empty affirmations and vanilla-flavoured self-help books. In contrast, this book provides an evidence-based code that outlines the steps we can all take to positively shift our confidence and that of our teams. Confident Leaders by Design is for leaders at all levels looking for a rigorous yet accessible approach to confidence development. Through research and fascinating anecdotes it reveals the surprising secrets to supercharging leadership potential through confidence creation. Alongside the theory, readers will practically locate their confidence sweet spot and explore activities like sludge audits, confidence curves and self-efficacy circles which will help them to immediately start growing confidence in themselves and their teams.
