Cet ouvrage aborde la question de l'apprentissage des langues à l'école par la biographie langagière de l'enfant. L'ouvrage a donc pour thématique générale la construction de cette compétence plurilingue précoce, dont les enjeux et les difficultés sont d'un autre type que ceux de l'apprentissage plus tardif de nouvelles langues à l'école, qui, elles, ne sont plus ni vecteurs de socialisation et d'autonomie du sujet, ni supports des savoirs scolaires fondamentaux.
