A publicação, assinada por pesquisadores da FGV-EAESP, traz experiências práticas em estudos de caso realizados com governos da cidade de Sorocaba (SP), Porto Alegre (RS), do Município de São Paulo e do Governo do Estado de São Paulo, todos membros da Rede Amigos da Amazônia. Cada caso estudado traz depoimentos de técnicos e gestores públicos, bem como exemplos de modelos de legislação, editais de compras e contratações públicas que envolvem madeira de origem amazônica. Os estudos de caso apontam as diferentes abordagens e desafios enfrentados pelos gestores de cada governo para criar parâmetros e procedimentos nos mecanismos de compras, contratação, vistoria e fiscalização na gestão pública da madeira amazônica. “A obra tem o objetivo de municiar gestores públicos com ideias sobre como gerir de forma responsável os processos que envolvem a madeira amazônica, com destaque para as compras e contratações públicas, a fim de contribuir para a conservação da floresta”, destaca Malu Villela, uma das autoras do livro. Além dos casos apresentados, o livro traz exemplos também de outros governos e movimentos internacionais, além de doze orientações práticas que visam motivar a reflexão sobre as principais questões que permeiam os procedimentos e a regulamentação da madeira nativa pelo setor público e apresentar ferramentas para que outros governos adotem a gestão responsável da madeira amazônica. São eles: adesão a uma rede; criação de um grupo de trabalho; formulação de uma legislação para compras sustentáveis; adoção de ferramentas para aumentar a eficiência das compras responsáveis; integração entre os setores; cadastramento de fornecedores; capacitações de servidores públicos e fornecedores; execução de uma obra piloto; eficiência nos processos de vistoria e fiscalização; criação de incentivos econômicos; elaboração de estratégias de comunicação e realização e participação em campanhas para disseminação e conscientização para o consumo sustentável.

This book analyses trade unions’ capacities of resistance following the period of austerity and “bailout crisis” in Portugal (2011-2015). Considering the destructive impacts of those policies on the working class and their unions, it explores three case studies in three productive sectors: the metal sector (Autoeuropa/VW); the telecommunications sector (PT-Telecom/Altice); and the transport sector (TAP – Air Portugal). In order to gather empirical information, the study uses qualitative methods, such as in-depth interviews and focus groups. The book shows that social dumping, brutal unemployment growth, increasing poverty levels, spreading precariousness, wage cuts and labour rights suppression were some of the consequences of this period on the working class and trade unions. Drawing on the “power resources” theoretical approach, it shows how trade unions were able to react and “reinvent” themselves in terms of certain forms of power, while others “imploded” or were relegated to a marginal role.
