Developmental Nephrology written by Wallace W. McCrory and has been published by Harvard University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1972 with Embryology, Human categories.

"It is my hope," writes the author in his preface, "that the material collected in this monograph will provide a new perspective in some areas for those students, biologists, and physicians interested in the kidney but too involved with their special trees to notice some of the changes occurring in the forest in which they toil." In the first up-to-date compendium to correlate the changes in kidney structure and function from the onset of organogenesis to the end of childhood growth, Dr. Wallace McCrory presents a new aspect of developmental pediatrics, skillfully explains the clinical enigmas surrounding the immature kidney, and suggests possible research areas for productive exploration. Clearly documented with tables and illustrations, the study synthesizes relevant new knowledge from the fields of embryology, biochemistry, and renal and growth physiology as a means of stimulating reappraisals of the current concepts of the pathophysiology of many childhood renal diseases. Included are reproductions of reconstructed micro dissections of the early stages in the developing human kidney taken from Dr. Jean Oliver's monograph Nephrons and Kidneys.

Kidney Development Disease Repair And Regeneration written by Melissa Helen Little and has been published by Academic Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-08-06 with Science categories.

Kidney Development, Disease, Repair and Regeneration focuses on the molecular and cellular basis of kidney development, exploring the origins of kidney lineages, the development of kidney tissue subcompartments, as well as the genetic and environmental regulation of kidney development. Special coverage is given to kidney stem cells and possible steps towards kidney repair and regeneration. Emphasis is placed on the fetal origins of postnatal renal disease and our current understanding of the molecular basis of damage and repair. Biomedical researchers across experimental nephrology and developmental biology will find this a key reference for learning how the underlying developmental mechanisms of the kidney will lead to greater advances in regenerative medicine within nephrology. Offers researchers a single comprehensive resource written by leaders from both the developmental biology and the experimental nephrology communities Focuses on understanding the molecular basis of organogenesis in the kidney as well as how this can be affected both genetically and environmentally Explains the underlying developmental mechanisms which influence the kidney’s inherent repair capacity Demonstrates how a deeper understanding of mechanisms will lead to greater advances in regenerative medicine

The traditional approach to kidney disorders is changing. In the field of diagnostics much innovative research is ongoing: from the “old” embryology, revisited and re-interpreted with new eyes in the light of immunohistochemistry, up to metabolomics the latest “daughter” of genomics, the most promising and remarkable of the “omics” disciplines. Between these two extremes we find a universe of novelties, ranging from the most recent urinary biomarkers to the questions of nutrition and growth, as well as those of ethics, which the new populations of extremely low birth weight (ELBW) neonates present to neonatologists and nephrologists. The studies on perinatal programming expands the temporal horizon of precocious reduction in the number of nephrons, both congenital and/or acquired, thus dilating and multiplying the immediate and long-term negative effects. Neonatal asphyxia, obstructive uropathies, nephrotoxic drugs administered to the mother and/or to the neonate, malnutrition, underfeeding, or overfeeding make it necessary to apply all possible preventive measures to ensure the well-being of the kidney. Because of the kidney’s holistic dimension, themethodical and rigorous study of neonatal nephrology has advanced all aspects of health through the life cycle. This volume is an update state of the art of the latest discoveries in neonatal and pediatric nephrology. These advances will have an even greater impact when the same children reach adulthood, and the ultimate consequences of perinatal care are unmasked.

Kidney Development And Disease written by Rachel K. Miller and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-04-13 with Science categories.

Kidney Development and Disease brings together established and young investigators who are leading authorities in nephrology to describe recent advances in three primary areas of research. The first section describes the use of animal models as powerful tools for the discovery of numerous molecular mechanisms regulating kidney development. The second section focuses on nephric cell renewal and differentiation, which lead to diverse cell fates within the developing kidney, and discusses diseases resulting from the aberrant regulation of the balance between cell fate decisions. The final section concentrates on morphogenesis of the developing kidney and its maintenance after formation as well as the diseases resulting from failures in these processes. Kidney form and function have been extensively studied for centuries, leading to discoveries related to their development and disease. Recent scientific advances in molecular and imaging techniques have broadened our understanding of nephron development and maintenance as well as the diseases related to these processes.

Factors Influencing Mammalian Kidney Development Implications For Health In Adult Life written by Karen Moritz and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-05-11 with Medical categories.

In this monograph the authors have emphasized a number of important concepts in mammalian kidney development. Emphasis has been put on methodology so that the reader can understand how certain results or conclusions were reached and what the optimal methods for reliable results to be obtained are. In addition, as well as descriptions of the morphology there is information on the genetic basis of the structural development. In addition much attention has been paid to how nephron number may be altered by changes in the environment of the developing kidney and to the consequences for the remaining nephron gene expression and kidney function when total nephron number is altered. The consequences for the health of the adult, upon the formation of an adult kidney with altered nephron number and (potentially) gene expression, can be quite serious. The epigenetic mechanisms by which such changes can occur are introduced as a very fertile field for future investigation.
