This book offers an overview of the research carried out in didactics on the teaching and learning of science at university from the perspective of university pedagogy. L’idée de cet ouvrage est de conceptualiser l’insertion professionnelle selon la théorie interactionniste d’Everett C. Hughes, laquelle soutient que les individus interprètent et donnent du sens à des situations socioprofessionnelles successives à partir de leur « carrière de vie ». Celle-ci se distingue de la position occupée momentanément dans leur métier. Elle correspond aux expériences et interactions sociales qui structurent leur parcours de vie. L’auteur démontre que l’insertion en enseignement relève des mêmes mécanismes. Autrement dit, le sens donné à l’expérience sociale avant de s’orienter vers le métier, explique dans une certaine mesure la variabilité observée tant dans les conditions d’accès à l’emploi que dans la socialisation au travail une fois que les individus exercent avec leur diplôme pédagogique. Ainsi, ce livre met en lumière un processus en trois étapes analytiquement enchevêtrées : l’orientation vers la formation, l’accès à l’emploi et l’insertion subjective.
