Länder - Mittelalter, Frühe Neuzeit, Note: keine, Universität Potsdam, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In dieser Arbeit werden an dem Beispiel des Zisterzienserordens die Funktionen und Entstehungen der Stadthöfe näher beleuchtet. Auch ein kurzer Exkurs zur Topographie der Stadthöfe wird gegeben. Des Weiteren wird unter anderem auch die Bedeutung der Grangien besprochen.Gleichzeitig wird ein übersichtliches Bild der Wirtschaftsweise der Zisterzienser erarbeitet und die Bedeutung des Ordens in der damaligen Zeit aufgedeckt. Ebenso werden die Stadthöfe des Kloster Chorin als Beispiel dargestellt. Winfried Schich nach zu urteilen, wurden die Wirtschaftseinrichtungen der Zisterzienser besonders in den letzten Jahrzehnten untersucht, besonders der Klöster die sich im östlichen Teil Europas befinden. Im Mittelpunkt der Arbeit soll die These stehen, dass die Zisterzienser ohne das Vorhandensein der Stadthöfe ihr umfangreiches Eigenwirtschaftsleben nicht erhalten hätten können und nicht zu der großen wirtschaftlichen Bedeutung erlangt wären. Ebenso, dass die Stadthöfe eine wichtige und unerlässliche Einrichtung für die wachsende und erfolgreiche Wirtschaftstätigkeit und den Handel der Zisterzienserklöster waren. Die Quellenlage ist nicht ausreichend genung um eine allzu umfassende Erläuterungen zu geben. Die Grundlage dieser Arbeit stellt insbesondere der Aufsatz von Winfried Schich: "Grangien und Stadthöfe der Zisterzienserklöster im Raum östlich der mittleren Elbe bis zum 14. Jahrhundert" und das Buch von Wolfgang Bender "Zisterzienser und Städte" dar.
