Sie ist zu einem allgegenwärtigen Bestandteil unseres Alltags geworden. Jede Familie legt unzählige Fotoalben an oder speichert die Bilder im Zeitalter der Digitalfotografie auf ihrer Festplatte ab. Jedes für uns bedeutende und unbedeutende Ereignis wird mit der Kamera festgehalten und anhand von Bildern dokumentiert. Eine Tatsache, die für den Franzosen Joseph Nicéphore Niépce (1765-1833) wahrscheinlich unvorstellbar war, als er vor knapp zweihundert Jahren in einem achtstündigen Belichtungsprozess das erste Foto entwickelte. In dieser Seminararbeit möchte ich mich mit der Geschichte der Fotografie beschäftigen und dabei meinen Schwerpunkt der Untersuchungen auf folgende forschungsleitende Fragestellungen legen: Wie und wann entstand die moderne Digitalfotografie und was waren die Voraussetzungen dafür? Wer prägte sie? Wie verlief die Entwicklung der Fotografie bis in ihre Anfänge? Welche Bedeutung hat die Fotografie für die Kunst? Der Aufbau meiner Seminararbeit erfolgt in Hinsicht auf die geschichtliche Entwicklung der Fotografie chronologisch. In den einzelnen Phasen der historischen Entwicklung werde ich jeweils Abschnitte über Akteure, Entstehungsbedingungen, Einflüsse und Merkmale einbinden. Die Literaturlage zur Geschichte der Fotografie ist sehr umfangreich und bietet viele große Abhandlungen. Heinz Haberkorns Abhandlung Anfänge der Fotografie. Entstehungsgeschichte eines neuen Mediums, sowie Wilfried Baatz Geschichte der Fotografie waren für meine Seminararbeit besonders relevant. Diese beiden Autoren boten mir mit ihren Werken einen sehr umfangreichen und informativen Einblick in die geschichtliche Entwicklung der Fotografie. Weite

Jahrhunderts, Henri Cartier-Bresson, sagte einmal: "Fotografieren scheint leicht zu sein, in Wahrheit aber ist es ein variationsreicher und vielseitiger Prozess, und die, die sich damit befassen, haben nur eine einzige Gemeinsamkeit - das ist ihr Instrument." Doch was verstehen wir nun unter Fotografie? Sie ist eine sehr heterogene Gesamtheit von Bildern, denen gemeinsam ist, dass sie durch Lichteinwirkung auf eine lichtempfindliche Oberfl che entstanden sind. Die Einen sehen in der Fotografie eine objektive Abbildung der Welt; also ein Dokument. Die Anderen betrachten das fotografische Bild als vollkommen subjektiv und somit den Erzeuger als K nstler der mit Elementen der Wirklichkeit arbeitet. Fotografie ist also mehr als nur die pure Erzeugung von dauerhaften Lichtbildern. Doch was ist sie genau? Welche Bereiche umfasst sie und welche Aufgaben erh lt sie durch ihre Vielseitigkeit? Diese Fragen, und noch Einiges mehr, versucht der folgende Abriss ber die "Geschichte der Fotografie" zu beantworten. Die eigentliche Erfindung der Fotografie wird dem fr hen 19. Jahrhundert zugeschrieben. Das Wort 'Fotografie' kommt aus dem Griechischen und bedeutet soviel wie 'Lichtzeichnung'. Der Begriff an sich wurde erstmals 1839 von John Herschel gebraucht und somit in die allgemeinen Wissenschaften und den Schriftgebrauch eingef hrt. Doch schon viele Jahrhunderte zuvor wurden die beiden eigentlichen Grundlagen der Fotografie erfunden und entdeckt: die Schw rzung von Silbernitraten durch Licht und die Camera Obscura .
