Chronicles the exclusion, by successive regulations, of Jewish pupils and teachers from German elementary and secondary schools. By the end of 1938 Jews were restricted to private schools administered by the Reichsvereinigung der Juden in Deutschland, which were permitted to provide only an elementary education (though this could be extended to a 9th or 10th year), and to a limited number of vocational schools. The life of Jewish pupils in the German public schools had become intolerable because of the racist curriculum as well as humiliation by Nazi teachers and Nazi-indoctrinated fellow pupils. The Reichsvertretung and its successor, the Reichsvereinigung, issued guidelines and study materials that increasingly stressed Jewish content and preparation for emigration. In June 1942 the last remaining Jewish schools were closed.

Preceded by a survey of Nazi anti-Jewish policy and discrimination in regard to the education of Jewish children, describes the functioning of Jewish schools from January 1933 to November 1938, focusing on various German districts. After the "Kristallnacht" pogrom the situation worsened; many pupils had been deported during the expulsion of Polish Jews in October 1938, numerous teachers had been arrested, and Jewish schools demolished. Relates the struggles of Jewish communities and educators between October 1939-January 1942 to continue to operate a regular school system, until the education of Jewish children was officially prohibited.

Anti Semitism And Schooling Under The Third Reich written by Gregory Wegner and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-02-04 with Education categories.

This book investigates the anti-Semitic foundations of Nazi curricula for elementary schools, with a focus on the subjects of biology, history, and literature. Gregory Paul Wegner argues that any study of Nazi society and its values must probe the education provided by the regime. Schools, according to Wegner, play a major role in advancing ideological justifications for mass murder, and in legitimizing a culture of ethnic and racial hatred. Using a variety of primary sources, Wegner provides a vivid account of the development of Nazi education.

Examines the history of the "Kindertransport" rescue as part of the history of emigration from Germany during the period 1933-45, based on archival material and interviews with 26 of the children. Between December 1938 and September 1939, ca. 10,000 Jewish children were able to emigrate from the Third Reich to England. The "Kindertransport" rescue took place at a time when the borders of the whole world were closed to Jews. Discusses the situation in Germany in 1938, British immigration policy, the organization of the "Kindertransports", the children's lives in England, and the war years. The Jewish Refugee Committee in London, which was responsible for the children's expenses during their sojourn, had been founded in 1933 in order to assist refugees from Germany; in 1939 it became the Central Council for Jewish Refugees. With the outbreak of war, the "Kindertransports" ceased; the last ship arrived in England in May 1940 from the Netherlands.

In ausführlichen Interviews ergründen 23 Ehemalige, was ihnen die Jüdische Oberschule bedeutet.
