Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2015 im Fachbereich Theologie - Islamische Religionswissenschaft, Note: 1,0, Universität Passau (Universität), Veranstaltung: Seminar zum Studienbegleitendem Praktikum, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Jährlich unternehmen ungefähr zwei Millionen Muslime aus allen Teilen der Welt die Wallfahrt nach Mekka. Die Pilgerfahrt findet während der letzten zehn Tage des zwölften Mondmonats (Dhu’l al Hijja) statt und erreicht ihren Höhepunkt mit dem Opferfest (Id al-Adha). Ungefähr zwei Wochen (10-13 Tage) dauert der Hadsch an und gehört zu den insgesamt fünf Säulen des Islams. Sie ist für jeden erwachsenen Moslem, der dazu die wirtschaftlichen und gesundheitlichen Voraussetzungen hat, verpflichtend. Sollte ein Muslim aus schwer wiegenden Gründen nicht dazu in der Lage sein, die Wallfahrt selber zu unternehmen, kann er stellvertretend für sich selbst einen anderen Moslem, der die Wallfahrt bereits zuvor schon einmal vollzogen hat, damit beauftragen, diese in seinem Namen zu unternehmen. Das Ziel der Wallfahrt ist die Kaaba, ein würfelförmiges Gebäude in Mekka, welches einer Legende zufolge von Adam als erstes Gotteshaus erbaut worden war und später von dem Propheten Abraham (Ibrahim) zusammen mit seinem Sohn Ismael wieder neu errichtet wurde. Bei der Wallfahrt wird unterschieden zwischen der kleinen Wallfahrt, der Umra, die meistens im Frühjahr stattfindet, aber auch zu jeder anderen beliebigen Jahreszeit vollzogen werden kann, und der großen Wallfahrt, dem Hadsch (oder auch Hadj, Hadjdj, Hadjj). Die Pilgerfahrt unterscheidet sich von den übrigen Glaubenspflichten insofern, da sie nur einmal im Leben durchgeführt werden muss. Die Wallfahrt ist für Männer und Frauen gleichermaßen verpflichtend. Nach Abschluss des Hadsch erhält der männliche Pilger den Ehrentitel „Hadschi“ (oder Hadji). Die weibliche Pilgerin wird hingegen nun als „Hadjia“ bezeichnet.
