In the 21st century, architectural outputs masquerade as familiar representational predecessors-drawings, models, and photographs-when, in fact, they are entirely other. Contemporary representations are the products of a wide range of tools and techniques, engaged in ever more complex mediational exchanges, and have markedly different qualities than their antecedents. That is, architecture's mediations today are decoys of past modes of representation. At once, these mediations decoy "the real" and make it ever more indistinguishable from "the virtual" in both their immersive capabilities and data-driven operations. Beneath the surface, decoys respond to a matrix of invisible pressures sourcing from their fictional objectivity, material frames, informational formats, accumulations of data, and operative interfaces. Digital decoys exist as dualities of data and picture, image and object, architects' working space and immersive worlds. These composites of image and object are not neutral vehicles and understanding and controlling their forces is a crucial task for architects today. Decoys are inherently political enterprises that can mask and carry into built form ecological, economic, social, and political violence embedded in digital media and culture. This book examines the social and political implications of the architectural decoys that have emerged in the age of imaging and identifies the new opportunities they create for architects to challenge existing hierarchies and systems of power through agency, expressions of identity, and collaborative resistance within digital platforms. This analysis is undertaken by framing a history of decoys in an expanded field encompassing architecture, military deceptions, dioramas, photography, tableau, simulators, and theater and film sets that reflect contemporary debates. Connections are drawn from that history to a flexible taxonomy of architects working within images today. Content includes the author's introduction, historical index, contemporary analysis, thirty-five contributing authors' image essays, and responses by leading architectural historians. Digital Decoys: An Architectural Index of Deceptions raises critical questions about contemporary architectural mediation and its relationship to building and sociopolitical issues.

This book is an introduction to both offensive and defensive techniques of cyberdeception. Unlike most books on cyberdeception, this book focuses on methods rather than detection. It treats cyberdeception techniques that are current, novel, and practical, and that go well beyond traditional honeypots. It contains features friendly for classroom use: (1) minimal use of programming details and mathematics, (2) modular chapters that can be covered in many orders, (3) exercises with each chapter, and (4) an extensive reference list.Cyberattacks have grown serious enough that understanding and using deception is essential to safe operation in cyberspace. The deception techniques covered are impersonation, delays, fakes, camouflage, false excuses, and social engineering. Special attention is devoted to cyberdeception in industrial control systems and within operating systems. This material is supported by a detailed discussion of how to plan deceptions and calculate their detectability and effectiveness. Some of the chapters provide further technical details of specific deception techniques and their application. Cyberdeception can be conducted ethically and efficiently when necessary by following a few basic principles. This book is intended for advanced undergraduate students and graduate students, as well as computer professionals learning on their own. It will be especially useful for anyone who helps run important and essential computer systems such as critical-infrastructure and military systems.

Sige Based Re Engineering Of Electronic Warfare Subsystems written by Wynand Lambrechts and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-10-19 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book provides readers a thorough understanding of the applicability of new-generation silicon-germanium (SiGe) electronic subsystems for electronic warfare and defensive countermeasures in military contexts. It explains in detail the theoretical and technical background, and addresses all aspects of the integration of SiGe as an enabling technology for maritime, land, and airborne / spaceborne electronic warfare, including research, design, development, and implementation. The coverage is supported by mathematical derivations, informative illustrations, practical examples, and case studies. While SiGe technology provides speed, performance, and price advantages in many markets, to date only limited information has been available on its use in electronic warfare systems, especially in developing nations. Addressing that need, this book offers essential engineering guidelines that especially focus on the speed and reliability of current-generation SiGe circuits and highlight emerging innovations that help to ensure the sustainable long-term integration of SiGe into electronic warfare systems.
