If you need to lose weight, look great, reduce inflammation, boost your immunity, or a myriad of other benefits, then you should consider one of the various intermittent fasting methods. There are different forms of intermittent fasting so if you want to fast responsibly, then you should find the type of fasting that suits you best. For instance, there is the 16-8 fasting where you fast for 16 hours and then eat your meals within the remaining 8 hours. Then there is the alternate day fast where you fast on one day and eat normally the next. You may also choose the extended fast where you fast for a longer period of time such as 8 days or more. Traditional fasting has proven to be ineffective with many people unable to cope with the tough requirements. Ordinarily, people would fast from dawn to dusk for probably an entire month, having to endure days on end without proper meals. Then once the benefits of fasting are achieved, they would resume normal life only for the problems to creep back again. This can be very frustrating. Fortunately, intermittent fasting solves this challenge. Rather than go through lengthy periods of fasting, all you need to do is identify the most suitable intermittent type of fasting. For instance, you may choose the 16-8 format where you go for 16 hours without eating anything and only eat within an 8-hour window in any given day. Fortunately, the 16 hours of fasting include your sleeping time so you will be asleep for about half of that time. Intermittent fasting has gained popularity because it offers choice, is easy to handle and has a lot of benefits but without the rigors and disadvantages of traditional ways of fasting. If you need to lose weight, look great, reduce inflammation, boost your immunity, or a myriad of other benefits, then you should consider one of the various intermittent fasting methods.

The differentiation of fasting inside or outside the box is very thought-provoking as it reveals the contrast between ones motives and the condition of the heart. Fasting was commonplace with the early leaders of the Church and it is still one of the most impactful disciplines that draws us into a closer intimacy with God. Pastor Bankas maintains that fasting not only ignites the fire of our devotion and commitment to God but also intensifies and strengthens our prayer life. With great insight, he shows you how to Hang out with God Purify your heart Come near to God Receive the secret pearls of fasting Know why you should fast John Bankas leaves footprints wherever he goes. I see Fasting Outside the Box as a written expression and extension of this pastors love for everyone he meets. Here is a book that will definitely leave indelible footprints on your heart. Bruce D. Johnson, Superintendent of Redwood Christian Schools, Castro Valley, California. Fasting Outside the Box is born out of a consistent life of prayer and fasting led by Pastor John. He is not theorizing about fasting or writing about a vicarious experience he has had with it. This book describes a firsthand experience. Dada A. Daodu, Special Education Teacher; Technical Assistant, Kogi State, Nigeria. Fasting Outside the Box takes the fear and mystery out of fasting and gives a clear, step-by-step understanding of how fasting can benefit you, especially in developing an intimacy with God. Joy J. The Beginner S Guide To Fasting written by Elmer L. Towns and has been published by Baker Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-02-11 with Religion categories.

God created the human body as a finely tuned instrument of enormous power, but it requires fuel to operate. To make sure that body gets enough fuel, God created in humans an appetite for food, which we call "hunger." So why would anyone ever ignore hunger and choose not to eat? Going without food for spiritual reasons is called fasting, a spiritual discipline with a long and important history in Christianity. When accompanied by earnest prayer, fasting demonstrates a believer's sincerity to God. In The Beginner's Guide to Fasting, beloved teacher-theologian Elmer Towns introduces the basics to those who may have never fasted before and reviews the fundamentals for seasoned intercessors. Dr. Towns gives an overview of fasting from the Old and New Testaments and answers questions about fasting related to physical health, social interaction, spiritual warfare, and much more. The Beginner's Guide to Fasting is an essential handbook for all who long to draw closer to God through biblical spiritual disciplines.

A sober engagement with the diverse meanings of intermittent fasting in human culture. Fasting from food is a controversial, dangerous, and yet utterly normal human practice. In Why Fast?, Christine Baumgarthuber engages our fascination with restrictive eating in cultural history. If fasting offers few health benefits, why do people fast? Why have we always fasted? Does fasting speak to something deep and immutable within us? Why are our bodies so well adapted to intermittent fasting? And, what might this ancient, ascetic ritual offer us today? Thoughtful and considered, Why Fast? is a sober reconsideration of a contentious practice.

The Fast written by John Oakes and has been published by Simon and Schuster this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-02-13 with Health & Fitness categories.

"An engaging exploration of the unique history and biology of fasting-an essential component of many traditional health practices, religions, and philosophies, resurging in popularity today-perfect for readers of Breath by James Nestor and Why We Sleep by Matthew Walker. We fast all the time, even when we're not conscious of doing so. A fast manifests the idea of holding back, resisting the animal impulse to charge ahead. Its flip side is similarly everywhere: call it splurging, self-indulgence, or a variant of "self-care." Based on extensive historical, scientific, and cultural research and reporting, The Fast illuminates the numerous facets of this act of self-deprivation. John Oakes interviews doctors, spiritual leaders, activists, and others who guide him through this practice-and embarks on fasts of his own-to deliver a book that supplies readers curious about fasting with profound new understanding, appreciation, and inspiration. Fasting has become increasingly popular for a variety of reasons-from health advocates who see fasting as a method to lose weight or to detox, to the faithful who fast in prayer, to seekers pursuing mindfulness, to activists using hunger strikes as an effective means of peaceful protest. Fasting is central to holy seasons and days such as Lent in Christianity, Ramadan in Islam, and Yom Kippur in Judaism. Advocates for justice who have waged hunger strikes include Gandhi in India, Bobby Sands in Ireland, and the Taxi Workers Alliance in New York City. Whether for philosophical, political, or health-related reasons, fasting marks a departure from daily routine. Fasting involves doing less but doing less in a radical way, reminding us that a slower, more intentional contemplative experience can be more fulfilling. Ultimately, this book shows us that fasting is about much more than food: it is about reconsidering our place in the world"--
