A presente publicação contém dois estudos autónomos sobre o direito dos seguros em que se procura desenvolver de uma forma detalhada e exaustiva, com referência à legislação e bibliografia mais recente, as matérias da cessação do contrato de seguro e do regime jurídico das práticas comerciais desleais na aplicação aos seguros. São estudos em que se procurou mencionar, sempre que possível ou útil, exemplos e jurisprudência de forma a facilitar a ligação à realidade prática, para além de se pretender dar resposta a diversos problemas jurídicos para auxiliar aqueles que no dia-a-dia lidam com estas questões. O estudo sobre a cessação do contrato, embora seja um tema clássico, apresenta particularidades relacionadas com o que se encontra previsto no Regime Jurídico do Contrato de Seguro. A matéria das práticas comerciais desleais, prevista no Decreto-Lei n.o 57/2008, de 26 de março, tem bastantes reflexos nas práticas do setor segurador, pelo que se procedeu a uma seleção e análise dos preceitos legais que podem ser mais relevantes para a atividade. Apesar de existirem alguns artigos doutrinários sobre o diploma legal em geral, do que se conhece, esta é a primeira investigação na perspetiva dos seguros.
