Fino a non molti anni fa i diritti umani sembravano costituire l’orizzonte condiviso entro cui le differenti tradizioni religiose andavano progressivamente collocandosi. Oggi non è più così. Nelle parole di Christopher McCrudden “human rights have become a central site of normative contestation over the implications of modernity, with both sides claiming to interpret human rights in the “right” way”. Questo libro studia le tensioni tra diritti dell’uomo e diritti di Dio, riflettendo sulle strategie e sugli strumenti per superarle. A tal fine esso considera da un lato il contributo che ebraismo e cristianesimo hanno dato allo sviluppo dei diritti umani e dall’altro le sfide che questi ultimi, una volta affermatisi come diritti “secolari”, hanno portato alla concezione dei diritti della persona propria di queste due religioni.
