Il costituzionalismo è una dimensione che ha conquistato lo Stato. Quella tra Stato e costituzione è divenuta una simbiosi così potente da contagiare anche ordinamenti giuridici, come quello europeo o internazionale, che si contendono il titolo di “costituzionale”. Se questa constatazione dice molto sulla portata simbolica del termine, non rispecchia tuttavia la realtà istituzionale che vede la costituzione solidamente ancorata allo Stato. In questo libro prevale la seconda nella convinzione che l’individualità degli itinerari non possa essere adeguatamente compresa senza ripercorrerla dalle sue origini.
