Doing Qualitative Research written by Wolff-Michael Roth and has been published by BRILL this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005-01-01 with Education categories.

The author takes readers on a journey of a large number of issues in designing actual studies of knowing and learning in the classroom, exploring actual data, and putting readers face to face with problems that he actually or possibly encountered, and what he has done or possibly could have done. The reader subsequently sees the results of data collection in the different analyses provided. The author shows how one writes very different studies using the same data sources but very different theoretical assumptions and analytic technique. The author brings his publication experience in very different disciplines-including science education, mathematics education, teacher education, curriculum, applied cognitive science, linguistics, social studies of science, and epistemology-into play to provide readers with way of experiencing research as praxis. The book is organized around six major themes (sections), in the course of which it develops the practical problems an educational researcher might face in a large variety of settings. In Part A, Collecting Data, the author introduces design experiments and ethnographic designs; in Part B, Analyzing Data, finding the right zoom level and focus, cognitive phenomenology, discourse analysis, and conversation analysis constitute the organizing themes. For each theme, the author uses one of his extensive databases to draw on examples, problems, decisions, solutions, and so on. The book was written to be used by upper undergraduate and graduate students taking courses in research design; because of its practical approach, it is highly suitable for those contexts where research methods courses do not exist. The audience also includes professors, who want to have a reference on design and methodology, and those who have not yet had the opportunity to employ a particular method.

Navigating Challenges In Qualitative Educational Research written by Todd Ruecker and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-06-11 with Education categories.

How do education researchers navigate the qualitative research process? How do they manage and negotiate myriad decision points at which things can take an unexpected – and sometimes problematic – turn? Whilst these questions are relevant for any research process, the specific issues qualitative researchers face can have impactful repercussions, that if managed adeptly, can lead to successful and even new research opportunities. Navigating Challenges in Qualitative Educational Research includes narratives that provide real world experiences and accounts of how researchers navigated problematic situations, as well as their considerations in doing so. These contributions give students and researchers a chance to understand the possibilities of research challenges and better prepare for these eventualities and how to deal with them. Providing educative windows into the challenges and missteps even seasoned researchers face along the way, this book is an invaluable resource for graduate students and early career qualitative researchers, particularly those who are interested in education.

This book is a useful addition to the growing literature in the field of educational research methodology, and offers a lively and very unusual introduction to an aspect of research which has so far received little attention. It is particularly helpful in drawing on experience across the educational landscape, including adult and lifelong education, as well as schools-based work. For this very reason it will be a very valuable resource for a broad audience.” Studies in the Education of Adults The processes and practices of the dissemination of research findings are exceptionally neglected fields in the research methods literature. Yet disseminating and using our findings are significant reasons why we undertake research. Organised in three parts, this text provides an accessible, critically informed and up-to-date overview of key aspects of dissemination. In so doing this text: *provides a critical review of contemporary policy and dissemination models in education. *contains a series of case studies produced by internationally respected researchers in a range of educational fields. Drawing on their extensive experiences of dissemination, these case studies illuminate how dissemination acts proceed in qualitative research projects. They also illuminate the dilemmas facing qualitative researchers who strive to disseminate their work. *Enables researchers to develop 'informed practice' in respect of disseminating research in a range of educational settings.

Doing Qualitative Research In A Digital World written by Trena M. Paulus and has been published by SAGE Publications this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-01-28 with Social Science categories.

While some qualitative methods texts touch upon online communities as a potential data source, show how to conduct interviews and focus groups online, or select recording devices and analysis software, no book to date has guided readers in the creation of a comprehensive digital workflow for their research. By working through each chapter in this book, readers will be able to generate a unique digital workflow for designing and implementing their research. The book provides a deep exploration of the relationship between theories of technology, substantive theories, and methodological theory, and shows how together these inform the development of a quality research design. The authors include vignettes—narratives written by qualitative researchers describing cutting-edge use of digital tools and spaces—and also give examples of published studies, which together provide practical illustration of the content. Woven throughout is explicit attention to ethical challenges that are likely to be faced by researchers when adopting digital tools. The book invites readers to engage in a critical appraisal of the role of technology in qualitative research through reflection, conversation, and engagement with the larger community of researchers.
