Our research, even despite its apparent fragmentary appearance, firmly believes in the idea that information science tools and the On-Line System should be utilized in innumerable ways in the various independent stages of an architect's learning itinerary, but that they can never totally replace the maieutic aspect of master-pupil relations, even if the masters, due to the extraordinary capacities of computer science, can be themselves multiplied, since, even though distant in space, they can be visibly and audibly next to us in a shared environment, even interacting with our own designs. We ourselves are spectators with other students gathered from all over the world to share together the most precious and unique moments in our and their educational growth. Research into the most effective way of realising this 'Augmented Reality' as the Americans call it, is our most ambitious objective, along with a parallel investigation into all the other possible stages of teaching in which information science technologies can be used as a normal and potent tool for the training of an architect. Teaching And Learning Building Design And Construction written by David Dowdle and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-10-18 with Architecture categories.

Innovation in building design and construction depends on innovative strategies being developed by teachers and practitioners, made available to students and then professionally adopted. Successful transfer of this knowledge relies on appropriate support for both students and academics to ensure the new knowledge is translated into a format appropriate to the learner's current state of understanding, often using a constructivist, student-centred learning approach. This special issue of the journal Architectural Engineering and Design Management examines new strategies to manage effectively a growing number of students and a changing student profile in the built environment sector. Written by international experts in the field, core themes covered include student-centred learning, practice-based learning, good practice and evaluation, and instructional systems design. Several papers are devoted to virtual learning, focusing on e-pedagogy, standardisation, bridging the gap between academia and industry, and virtual learning environments. This peer-reviewed publication will be invaluable reading for lecturers and students on architecture and civil engineering courses, professional architects and engineers, and all interested in T&L, continuing professional development and distance learning in the built environment sector.

With the resources provided by communication technologies, E-learning has been employed in multiple universities, as well as in wide range of training centers and schools. This book presents a structured collection of chapters, dealing with the subject and stressing the importance of E-learning. It shows the evolution of E-learning, with discussion about tools, methodologies, improvements and new possibilities for long-distance learning. The book is divided into three sections and their respective chapters refer to three macro areas. The first section of the book covers methodologies and tools applied for E-learning, considering collaborative methodologies and specific environments. The second section is about E-learning assessment, highlighting studies about E-learning features and evaluations for different methodologies. The last section deals with the new developments in E-learning, emphasizing subjects like knowledge building in virtual environments, new proposals for architectures in tutoring systems, and case studies.

In this article we described a dedicated knowledge assessment system, designed to supplement existing e-learning solutions, as they implement such functionality in inadequate manner. The design of our system includes a number of original solutions and often exceeds similar products in terms of functionality. Our system relies heavily on webbased technologies (Java, XML, HTML, standardized media files, streaming media, SOAP, SMTP, MIME, etc.), but their usage differs from currently popular trends. The uniqueness of our e-learning solution lies in use of independent modules, full-client approach, loosely-tied distributed architecture and inclusion of ComAL functionality. As a result we have a system which can be deployed fully or partially and easily integrated with third party solutions. Possible deployment scenarios range from a single workstation with knowledge testing module exporting results to MS Excel, to a collection of interconnected servers (each controlling a large number of knowledge-testing client modules) allowing global information searches. The system has proven to be extremely scalable. Complication of system configuration also scales, which means that simple setups are as easy to prepare and maintain as installing and running a standalone application, while only more advanced require additional system configuration and administration. Distributed server part configuration is also easy due to automatic information routing mechanisms. System servers function independently and can be connected and disconnected from the system almost at will with no impairment of their basic functionality, apart from global search ability. That independence allows various departments of an organization to autonomously organize their own elements of the system and retain access to full system information base.

Flexible Elearning Platforms written by Peter Westerkamp and has been published by Logos Verlag Berlin this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005 with Educational innovations categories.

Although the benefits of Service-Oriented Architectures (SOA) are well-understood in the area of software engineering, e-learning platforms are commonly still implemented in the form of monolithic applications. The latter resemble one another to a large extend, but a reuse of functionalities between platforms in the form of services is uncommon or impossible. The reuse of e-learning content is addressed by many competing standards and specifications making the physical exchange of these learning objects difficult. The book of Peter Westerkamp transfers the concepts of SOAs to the field of e-learning. It starts with a short overview of the e-learning field and discusses different approaches to implement a SOA for e-learning. In addition, it defines reasonable e-learning services based on existing e-learning architecture standards. It turns out that the consequent design and implementation of e-learning functionalities in the form of Web services provides mechanisms to reuse e-learning functionalities and to create flexible platforms that can easily be adapted to the individual needs of learners. By using already existing standards from the field of Web services, functionalities can easily be integrated. Content, too, is delivered in the form of Web services, which makes a physical distribution of learning objects obsolete. This means that several e-learning standards and specifications are also obsolete because content is stored only once on the server of the content provider and accessed via Web services. The book covers models of the internal and external architecture of a Web-services-based e-learning environment. The service concept for e-learning is implemented in the LearnServe environment and can be interpreted as a more general model for elearning Web services. The book also covers economical and organizational perspectives of e-learning Web services and discusses differences to monolithic platforms.

The objective of the book is to unravel a strategic architecture for E-learning for a traditional university like Himachal Pradesh University (H.P. University) and provide guidelines as to how to carry the implementation of E-learning for the University of the future. To venture into e-learning, H.P. University will have to reengineer itself, understand how competition will differ in the future and capture and refine insights into future opportunities. Getting to the future first is not just about excelling competitors bent on reaching the same prize. It is also concerning having one's own view of what the prize is. There can be as many prizes as runners; imagination is the only restraining factor. The book provides guidelines for a traditional university like H.P. University to venture into e-learning. The book provides guidelines as to how to implement E-learning which will be beneficial for both the staff and the students. The book advocates the concept of strategic thinking in the education sector for implementing E-learning.
