Laparoscopic Donor Nephrectomy written by Mahesh R. Desai and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-07-31 with Medical categories.

This book explains the development of various laparoscopic donor nephrectomy (LDN) techniques, which can be performed via the retroperitoneal or the transperitoneal approach. It provides a step-by-step explanation of LDN, including details of intricacies such as port positioning, dissection steps, securing the hilum and retrieval. It also reviews new techniques like robotic donor nephrectomy and single-port donor nephrectomy. Lastly, it explores the non-technical but equally important issues of donor work-up and legal and social aspects. LDN is a unique surgical procedure in which the surgeon operates on an individual who is not a patient but someone donating out of altruistic motives, and it has to be “zero error” for the safety of the graft, donor and the recipient. This handbook is a valuable resource for urologists, general and transplant surgeons as well as anesthesiologists and medical social workers working in the field.

Everything You Always Wanted To Know About European Union Health Policies But Were Afraid To Ask written by Scott L. Greer and has been published by WHO Regional Office for Europe this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-10-17 with Political Science categories.

There is no European Union health system but there is an EU health policy. The EU affects the health of its citizens, the health of people around the world, and the operation and finance of its Member States' healthcare systems in many ways, mostly for the better, and often in ways that are poorly understood. This book, a completely revised second edition of our previous volume on the subject, maps out the nature of EU health policies, their logic and reason for being, and their potential to affect the health of Europeans for the better. It is written in the belief that understanding the breadth and diversity of EU health policies, and the distinctive institutional structure that explains them, will improve our collective abilities to make policy for health in any sphere, from food to healthcare services and from occupational safety to international trade. Above all, we hope that this book makes it impossible to deny the scale and often indirect and positive impact of EU health policy. EU health policies extend far beyond the Public Health Article 168, from the environmental, social policy and consumer protection policies discussed alongside it in chapter 3, to the extensive internal market laws that have made so much beneficial EU regulatory policy, discussed in chapter 4, to the ambitious fiscal governance agenda discussed in chapter 5, which has increasingly developed a health focus. Across a broad sweep of policies from RescEU's civil protection to the regulation of pharmacies, the EU is omnipresent in health and health policy. It should be understood as such. The question is not whether we want an EU health policy, for EU health policy is inevitable. It is how it should be made and for what ends.

Systemic Diseases Renal Manifestations Ecab written by D S Rana and has been published by Elsevier Health Sciences this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-06-13 with Medical categories.

This book discusses the epidemiology, recognition, screening, and management of the various common systemic diseases that commonly present with renal manifestations like diabetic nephropathy, lupus nephritis, hypertension and renal involvement, liver disease, and dysproteinemias. Diabetic nephropathy remains the leading cause of end-stage renal disease across the world. The outlook for patients who have lupus nephritis has improved in the last decade. Kidney disease is common in patients who have advanced liver disease, and creatinine-based methods do not provide an accurate estimation of renal function in this population. Dysproteinemias are associated with protean renal manifestations, and renal disease may be the presenting manifestation. The authors have given a very comprehensive view pertaining to each topic and have given an insight to their own clinical experiences along with the standard guidelines as followed.

Optimal nutrition is essential for maintaining the structural and functional integrity of all the organs and systems in the body. This is especially relevant in disease and dysfunctional states when the functioning of organ systems is compromised. This clinical update handbook aims to discuss and debate the impact of nutrition, describe methods for assessment of nutritional status and recommend the diet modifications helpful in managing various types of kidney diseases and dysfunctions. The first chapter of this book describes the various components of a healthy diet when there is no kidney disease or dysfunction. The chapter 2, 3, 4, and 5 provide a brief but relevant review of the dietary modifications and restrictions recommended in diabetic nephropathy, hypertensive nephropathy, renal stone disease, and nephrotic syndrome respectively. The two subsequent chapters 6 and 7 speak of the nutritional modifications indicated in management of acute injury of kidney and chronic kidney disease. The 8 and 9 chapters describe the dietary modifications that are compatible with the two types of dialysis, hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. The final chapter of the book describes the dietary recommendations and restrictions applicable before and after kidney transplantation. This book will help the readers understand the intricacies of the aspects mentioned above and guide the practitioner to diagnose and manage the nutritional aspect of various kidney diseases with special reference to practical experience in India. The authors have put together the most relevant facts about the disease for an easy comprehension and understanding of primary glomerular diseases by practitioners and students across the specialty.
