Este libro cuenta a nivel gráfico y narrativo alrededor de 200 años de música cubana, con los ritmos nacidos allí que van desde la habanera, el tango (sí el tango), el danzón, el mambo, el chachachá, el son, la timba, el bolero, el jazz afrocubano y el rock. Con sus figuras emblemáticas en cada momento, desde María Martínez, Juan Cocuyo (siglo XIX) al siglo XX con María Teresa Vera, Benny Moré, Dámaso Pérez Prado, Chucho Valdés, Bebo, Gloria Estefan, Celia Cruz, Compay Segundo, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Habana Abierta y Buena Vista Social Club.Desde que publiqué mi primera entrevista a un músico cubano, en la Revista Alma Mater de la Universidad de La Habana, en 1989, no he parado hasta hace unos días, junio del 2020 que escribí una crónica en mi blog sobre Laura Flores Trío, cubana que fusiona candombe con sones y boleros en Barcelona.Más de 30 años escribiendo en revistas como Caimán Barbudo, Revolución y Cultura, Prensa latina, Música Cubana, cuando empecé mi carrera como musicólogo en Cuba. Allí sellé mi aventura musicológica a los diez años de comenzar en 1997, cuando publiqué una entrevista a Compay Segundo por sus 90 años, la única de él en vida con casi 30 páginas que recoge este libro.De mis crónicas en Cuba estoy muy orgulloso de ser de los pioneros que publicamos sobre el rap cubano que ahora recoge La Enciclopedia de Música Cubana. Tuve la oportunidad, además, de trabajar en el centro de promoción de música cubana ANTONIO MARÍA ROMEU, tras mi trabajo en el Archivo Nacional de Cuba.Luego en Europa, un año tras mi arribada a París, comencé en el año 2000 haciéndolas 70 entradas de Cuba para el "Diccionario de Rock Latino" que editó la SGAE. La primera investigación importante sobre el rock en Cuba publicada dentro y fuera de la isla.Del 2000 al 2006 publiqué una crónica semanal en la revista Encuentro de la Cultura Cubana. Este material en su conjunto es una actualización de las confluencias musicales que tuvo la música cubana en el siglo XIX hasta los géneros más contemporáneos de la misma.
