Abstract: Diese Studie vergleicht die staatliche und private Presse im westafrikanischen Ghana hinsichtlich ihres Journalismusverständnisses und ihrer politischen Ausrichtung. Dabei soll geklärt werden, ob die Zeitungen dem Entwicklungsjournalismus oder dem Journalismus westlicher Prägung näher stehen. Mittels eines Multi-Methoden-Ansatzes bestehend aus einer Inhaltsanalyse von vier Tageszeitungen, der ersten quantitativen Journalistenbefragung in Ghana, teilnehmenden Beobachtungen in zwei Redaktionen und qualitativen Befragungen zweier Chefredakteure konnte ein umfassendes Bild der ghanaischen Presselandschaft erstellt werden. Die Studie kommt zu dem zentralen Ergebnis, dass sich die staatlichen Zeitungen am Entwicklungsjournalismus orientieren, während die privaten zum westlichen Journalismusverständnis neigen. In The Falling Rate of Profit and the Great Recession of 2007-2009, Peter H. Jones develops a new non-equilibrium interpretation of the labour theory of value Karl Marx builds in Capital. Applying this to US national accounting data, Jones shows that when measured correctly the profit rate falls in the lead up to the Great Recession, and for the main reason Marx identifies: the rising organic composition of capital. Jones also details a new theory of finance, which shows how cycles in the profit rate relate to stock market booms and slumps, and movements in the interest rate. He discusses the implications of the analysis and Marx and Engels’ work generally for a democratic socialist strategy.

The worldwide increase in societal challenges, such as climate change, political instability, and economic volatility, puts pressure on institutions, organisations, and individuals to develop means to address social problems. Unfortunately, many organisations fail to adequately formulate social problems and even solve the wrong ones, which is due to their inherent complexity. Consequently, this dissertation adopts a ‘complexity lens’ to interpret the intertwined forces driving social problems within organisational and environmental contexts. Problem complexity requires different governance modes, as solutions cannot be developed in the typical linear and hierarchical process that commercial products follow. To this end, this dissertation entails two studies that explore how the complexity of social problems can be managed at the organisational and individual level. In particular, study 1 employs Procedural Action Research and mixed methods together with a humanitarian organisation to qualitatively develop and quantitatively validate a theory-guided bottom-up search process for surfacing solutions to reoccurring floods in Indonesia. In a similar vein, study 2 investigates and compares the individual innovation processes of 20 social entrepreneurs from Ethiopia and Germany.

Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Die Schaffung innovativer Produkte ist zunehmend schwieriger geworden: Einerseits hat sich die Dauer des Marktzyklus eines Produktes verkürzt, so daß weniger Zeit für die Amortisation der Entwicklungskosten zur Verfügung steht. Andererseits besteht die Tendenz, daß den Wünschen der Nachfrager bei der Konzeption neuer Produkte in immer höheren Maße Gehör geschenkt werden muß. Erschwerend kommt hinzu, daß technische Produkte immer komplexer werden und daß die Innovationshöhe der Produkte tendenziell steigt. Daher ist es geboten, die Effizienz und Effektivität bei der Generierung und Umsetzung von Innovationen zu steigern. Es hat sich aber erwiesen, daß die ausschließliche Ableitung der Gestalt des Innovationsprozesses aus erfolgreichen Prozessen der Vergangenheit genauso wenig eine Erfolgsgarantie bieten kann wie der Versuch, undifferenziert bestimmte Strategie- oder Innovationskonzepte anzuwenden. Die beste Vorgehensweise besteht vielmehr darin, die Gestalt des Innovationsprozesses gezielt in Abhängigkeit von den wichtigsten Einflußfaktoren zu schaffen. Wie diese Forderung in der Praxis umgesetzt werden sollte, ist der Untersuchungsgegenstand der vorliegenden Diplomarbeit. Gang der Untersuchung: In Kap. 2 erfolgt zunächst eine Darstellung der Grundlagen des Innovationsmanagements. Es werden die Gebiete der Produktpolitik, des Innovationsmanagements, des Technologiemanagements, des Controllings sowie des Wissensmanagements erläutert und gegeneinander abgegrenzt. In Kap. 3 werden die 35 wichtigsten Methoden (im Sinne von Teilaktivitäten), die im Rahmen von Innovationsprozessen zum Einsatz gelangen, in ihrer Vorgehensweise einzeln vorgestellt. Zugleich erfolgt ihre Zuordnung zu den verschiedenen grundlegenden Phasen des Innovationsprozesses, bestehend aus der strategischen Phase Analyse des betrieblichen Innovationsbedarfs sowie den operativen Phasen Ideengenerierung, Ideenbewertung und -auswahl, Ideenverwirklichung, Controlling und Wissensmanagement. Das Ziel des Kap. 4 ist es, ein Referenzmodell aufzustellen, aus dem die spezielle Gestalt des Innovationsprozesses ableitbar ist.
