This book is intended to provide insights to companies interested in growing and in improving their administrative processes. Usually, we are all thinking about selling, depositing the checks, finding people, shipping products or delivering projects, and the administrative process are for most CEO’s not relevant. Actually, we all heard many CEO’s saying: I don’t care how you do it, but get it done! But the “How To” becomes extremely important to be efficient, have control of the operation, and obtain the right data out of the system. It is too easy to be caught up in the frenzy of the day, chasing people, products, orders, checks, and accounting tends to receive little focus for many. This is why I worked on this book. Every CEO should pay attention that once you did your first few steps as an entrepreneur (getting customers and start operating) there are formalities you need to have in order to guarantee registering all data correctly. Not just for the Department of Revenue or the IRS, but also for you. At the end of the day, the most valuable component in your business is your data. That is why having a secured, efficient and auditable system of record to store your data and be able to exploit that data via KPI’s Dashboards and reports becomes critical for your success. This book is not intended to teach experienced consultant how to implement their ERP. But rather to give the newcomers to the ERP world an insight of that they should do to implement a system successfully. This is not just my opinion, but because I used ChatGPT to write this book, the contents are what it is on the internet available already. I directly the information in order to give it a structure that made sense to me. Most implementation partners already have their own methodology, that is why this books is intended to companies that are planning to implement an ERP for the first time. Many companies put more focus in the Change Management, other ignore it completely. We can’t stress how important it is to have a Project Manager or at least one person responsible for gathering the data and preparing the data and to be the sole point of contact with the partner that is implementing the system with you. Last, I want to give many thanks to Joe Martin and Jose Fernandez Calvo for giving me ideas in how to use GPT-3 OpenAI large-scale language-generation model (aka ChatGPT) and in helping me with the technicalities not related to ERP implementation but rather in publishing this book. I also want to thank the team at Consultare America LLC that cheered when I told them that I was writing this book and encouraged me to finish it

The history of implementing ERP systems has shown that leaving the fate of your Enterprise Resource Planning project in the hands of software consultants and vendors may only create a false sense of security. While the help of consultants is usually required, they are not all-knowing, have a limited ability to control the keys to project success, and are often the beneficiaries of cost overruns. When it comes to software vendors, their sales people will be long gone when it comes time to go-live with the new system. This is not your typical book about implementing ERP systems. It is designed to facilitate action and is a guide to making informed decisions every step along the way. When implementing ERP software, it is not only what you do; but how you do it, that can spell the difference between a raging success and an outright failure. The author describes how to mitigate project risks, significantly reduce implementation costs and manage your services providers. It includes many tips to select ERP software and consultants, transfer software knowledge, develop the right implementation strategies, establish a realistic schedule and budget, redesign processes, and properly test the new system. It also addresses the various application and system infrastructure deployment options, emerging technology trends, and the implications from a software selection, implementation and on-going support standpoint. Reviews "You owe it to your company and yourself to read this book. If you do so, you will sharply increase your odds for success and spend a lot less money. Steve has done the ERP industry a big service." - Thomas F. Wallace, early ERP pioneer, author, and Distinguished Fellow at The Ohio State University Center for Operational Excellence. "There really aren't many "must-read" ERP books in the 30 year (or so) history of ERP, but you can add this book to the must-read list. The book fits nicely into what I call the Center of Excellence movement - the push by ERP customers to gain more value out of their ERP investments and endure less headaches. The book is a combination of hard-won advice, cautionary tales, and a bit of a manifesto for not placing blind trust in third party consultancies." - Jon Reed, SAP/ERP Market Analyst. "I love this book." - R. Ray Wang. CEO and Principal Analyst at Constellation Research, a founding partner of the Altimeter Group and thought leader on enterprise digital transformation. "If the Project Management Institute (PMI) had a certification program in ERP Management, this would be the only textbook needed." - Andy Klee, President, Klee Associates, ERPtips.com (SAP), and JDEtips.com (Oracle Enterprise One).
