Ziel Erziehung in unserer Gesellschaft überhaupt zu verfolgen hat. Zunächst werden zur Auseinandersetzung mit dieser Frage die Vorlesungen zur Pädagogik von Immanuel Kant herangezogen, um die Bedeutung und die Ziele der Erziehung in unserer modernen demokratischen Gesellschaft aus ihrer aufklärerischen und humanistischen Tradition heraus zu erklären. Die Grundlagen und Notwendigkeiten der heutigen Erziehung begründen sich in dieser philosophischen Tradition, die die Grundbedingungen unserer Gesellschaft und damit auch die der Erziehung überhaupt erst gelegt hat. Doch welches Ziel soll die Erziehung überhaupt verfolgen? In einer demokratischen Gesellschaft stellt das höchste eines jeden Erziehungsziels die Erziehung zur Kritikfähigkeit bzw. zur Mündigkeit dar, denn dieses ist die Grundbedingung der Demokratie überhaupt: "Der öffentliche, demokratische Diskurs hängt entscheidend davon ab, ob eine Gesellschaft und die Einzelnen in ihr gewillt und fähig sind, sich im Leben durch Selbstdenken statt durch autoritäre Vorgaben zu orientieren".(Ekkehard Martens) Aus diesem Grund folgt also auf das allgemeinere Kapitel über die Aufgaben und Ziele der Pädagogik bei Kant und Adorno (als Vertreter für die moderne Erziehungstheorie) ein Abschnitt, welcher dieses in einer Demokratie so wichtige Erziehungsziel der Kritikfähigkeit genauer beleuchtet. Doch nicht nur die Gesellschaftsform Demokratie erfordert eine Erziehung zur Mündigkeit und Autonomie. Thematisiert werden die Notwendigkeit der Erziehung laut Kant und ebenso die Herausforderungen, die sich ergeben würden, sollte durch Erziehung Freiheit ermöglicht werden. Der Begriff Erziehung wurde Anfang des 18. Jahrhundert noch anders definiert und verstanden als heute. Eher wurde er als eine Art Kinderzucht und Regierung gesehen, deren Hauptziel es war, Kinder so zu erziehen, dass über jede ihrer Verhaltensweisen bestimmt werden konnte und demnach eine Machtposition über das Kind bestand. Die Erziehung eines Menschen ist entscheidend für seine zukünftige Persönlichkeit, denn der Mensch ist das einzige Lebewesen, das erzogen werden muss, damit es gesellschaftsfähig wird. Demnach müssen ihm Vernunft, Pflege oder Disziplin seitens der Eltern nähergebracht werden, da das Individuum nicht selbst in der Lage sei, sich diese Aspekte selbstständig anzueignen. Laut Kant kommt der Mensch roh auf die Welt, was bedeutet, dass er nicht schon ab der Geburt in der Lage ist, selbstständig zu handeln und zu entscheiden. Zum Zeitpunkt der Geburt fehlen ihm noch sämtliche Fähigkeiten, um unabhängig zu werden. Diese müssten ihm erst über eine längere Zeit von anderen Menschen beigebracht werden. Kant vergleicht den Menschen mit den Tieren, die keine derart intensive Versorgung und Erziehung benötigen würden.

"Musste" ist hierbei wörtlich zu verstehen, denn tatsächlich wurde ihm während seiner Lehrtätigkeit an der Königsberger Universität aufgetragen, eine Vorlesung über Pädagogik zu halten. Dieser Verpflichtung kommt Kant im Wintersemester 1776/77 zum ersten Mal nach. The question of the meaning of categorical education and the function of didactic analysis will also be explored. Before theories and models of didactics can be explained and contexts understood, a basic understanding of what didactics is in the first place and which factors play a role here must first be established. The question of the meaning of didactics is not easy to answer. The word has its origins in the Greek "didáskein", which translates as "to teach" and "to instruct" or "to learn" and "to be taught". Already here it becomes clear that two elementary processes are interrelated and complement each other, which has not changed until today. Thus didactics is "the theory and practice of learning and teaching". The focus is on the interaction between teachers and learners. Didactics should therefore be a support for mutual interaction between teachers and learners. It is a science of action that is intended to provide teachers with a practice-oriented way of acting. During the 20th century, educationalists such as Erich Weniger, Paul Heimann and especially Wolfgang Klafki (born 1927), who is considered the "father" of didactics, tried to narrow down and define the term in order to finally develop educational theoretical foundations and didactic theories and models.
