The field of digital electronics is central to modern technology. This book presents fundamental circuits using gates, flip-flops and counters from the CMOS 4000 Series. Each of the 50 experiments has a circuit diagram as well as a detailed illustration of the circuits construction on solderless breadboard. Learning these fundamentals is best done using practical experiments. Building these digital circuits will improve your knowledge and will be fun to boot. Many of the circuits presented here have practical real-life applications. With a good overview of the field, you will be well-equipped to find simple and cost-effective solutions for any application. The book is targeted essentially at students, trainees and anyone with an interest in and requiring an introduction to digital control electronics. Moreover, the knowledge gleaned here is the foundation for further projects in the field of microcontrollers and programming.

This unique and innovative laboratory manual helps users learn and understand circuit analysis concepts by using Electronic Workbench software to simulate actual laboratory experiments on a computer. Learners work with circuits drawn on the computer screen and with simulated instruments that act like actual laboratory instruments. Circuits can be modified easily with on-screen editing, and analysis results provide fast, accurate feedback. "Hands-on" in approach throughoutin both interactive experiments and a series of questions about the results of each experiment--it is more cost effective, safer, and more thorough and efficient than using hardwired experiments. This For use with any DC/AC text.

This manual was designed to teach, via experimentation, the fundamental theories and operation of digital electronics. As such, it should be used with a textbook or some other reference that presents the topics covered. Almost any introduction to digital electronics book will work. Topics are laid out from simple to complex so it is recommended that all work be carried out in the sequence presented. Eight rather broad topics are covered in the text. Sections 3 and 4 are presented in great detail. This approach allows the student to see and apply fundamentals of circuit construction. As the text progresses, it is expected that the learner will become proficient in these fundamentals and will not need to be continuously reminded of them. This will make the labs shorter on paper but larger on the proto-board.The book uses basic gates, referred to as "primitives." The digital components are exclusively transistor to transistor logic (TTL). These were selected to make the labs more or less ESD safe.
