Many churches are reaching out to their culturally diverse neighbours with friendship, English lessons and most importantly, the good news about Jesus. To support churches in this valuable ministry, Anglicare's Cross Cultural Services has teamed up with Bible Society Australia to produce English lesson resources.A Bible text informs the language and thematic content for each lesson, and each lesson contains two parts:Part 1 is a general English component on a topic relevant to students' everyday lives and closely connected in theme and language to the Bible text in Part 2. Part 1 activates knowledge, generates interest, and builds language and concepts relevant to students' lives and the Bible text.Part 2 guides students to read, comprehend and discuss a paraphrased Bible text.Lessons include a suite of simple, print-friendly sketches. These black-and-white sketches sequence the Bible narrative in the Beginner and High Beginner books and provide a pictorial summary for the Intermediate book.

Looking through the exquisitely crafted stained glass windows of any church, one might think that all is well inside. Yet, the word from clergywomen is that nothing could be further from the truth. Their commitment to God and to the people of the faith community where they serve remains intact. Yet, underneath this public veneer lie endless inequities, struggles unimaginable, and realities too long undivulged. In this age of "Me Too," clergywomen dig deep as they share their stories of the joys and challenges of being a woman in ministry with boldness and authenticity. In these pages, the voices of clergymen and others who stand in solidarity and support of clergywomen can also be heard.Words of hope and suggestions of possibilities for the future call on the church to implement policies and practices that will lead to equitable treatment of clergywomen everywhere. May the church, today and tomorrow, with enhanced equity for clergywomen, reflect all humanity as created in the image of the divine.

Young evangelicals in Britain often find themselves at odds with an increasingly secular society, and yet the tradition persists and in some places flourishes. Sociological studies into the faith of this demographic group are rare, yet there is much to be explored as to how their faith functions and how it compares to other groups globally. Similarly, given the privilege evangelicals afford the biblical text, how young believers engage with the ancient Scriptures they understand to be "the word of God" is particularly significant. This work addresses that core question. How do young evangelicals make sense of the Bible today? Based on qualitative data gathered from three diverse evangelical churches it compares the reading priorities, ordinary hermeneutics, and theological concerns of young adults. Presenting age-related focus groups with challenging biblical narratives, the study compares strategies for negotiating the texts based on age, gender, and churchmanship. It provides a unique insight into the realities of Bible reading and the faith of "Generation Y" and gives food for thought not only to those with scholarly interests, but also those with a pastoral concern to shape and sustain the Christian faith of young adults in Britain and beyond.
