Die Menschheit ist längst in einer digitalen Welt angekommen. Die Digitalisierung betrifft nicht mehr nur klassische IT- Unternehmen, sondern Unternehmen quer durch sämtliche Branchen und Sektoren. Autos werden per App geteilt, Sprachen werden online gelernt und Musik wird millionenfach über Online-Plattformen gestreamt. Die Digitalisierung und Vernetzung wirkt sich in Unternehmen auf alle Bereiche aus: Auf Produkte und Dienstleistungen sowie Arbeits-, Produktions- und Kommunikationsprozesse. Jedoch zeigen Studien, dass mittelständische Unternehmen bei der Digitalisierung ihrer Arbeits- und Geschäftsprozesse im Vergleich zu Großunternehmen Nachholbedarf haben. Um dauerhaft zukunfts- und wettbewerbsfähig zu bleiben, müssen sich vor allem mittelständische Unternehmen den Herausforderungen der Digitalisierung stellen. Auch die Bundesregierung will das enorme Potential der Digitalisierung für den Wirtschaftsstandort Deutschland nutzen, da gerade für kleine und mittlere Unternehmen intelligente und digitale Produktionsverfahren große Chancen bieten können. Die sogenannte Industrie 4.0 ist ein zentrales Thema der Digitalen Agenda der Bundesregierung. Mit den beiden Förderprogrammen Autonomik für Industrie 4.0 und Smart Service Welt stellt das Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie (BMWi) knapp 100 Millionen Euro bereit, um Forschung und Entwicklung für wichtige Innovationen im Bereich der Digitalisierung voranzubringen. Es gilt den digitalen Wandel zu nutzen. Damit dieses gelingt müssen Unternehmen diverse Anpassungen vornehmen. Die professionelle Begleitung dieser Veränderungen kann innerhalb eines Change Management Prozesses erfolgen.
