My grandfather, who became a great-grandfather with the birth of the son of my brother, Frederik, was a profoundly good man. He loved us greatly and loved telling us stories. But, he thought that the old times were the best times and thought little of the present, which was too modern for his taste, but maybe there was something that would change his mind... Hans Christian Andersen (1805-1875) was a Danish author, poet and artist. Celebrated for children’s literature, his most cherished fairy tales include "The Emperor's New Clothes", "The Little Mermaid", "The Nightingale", "The Steadfast Tin Soldier", "The Snow Queen", "The Ugly Duckling" and "The Little Match Girl". His books have been translated into every living language, and today there is no child or adult that has not met Andersen's whimsical characters. His fairy tales have been adapted to stage and screen countless times, most notably by Disney with the animated films "The Little Mermaid" in 1989 and "Frozen", which is loosely based on "The Snow Queen", in 2013. Thanks to Andersen's contribution to children's literature, his birth date, April 2, is celebrated as International Children's Book Day.

He is a wonderful storyteller, and every evening the children of the forest gather to hear him tell another tale of the Dream Realm and its magical countries. In "The Adventures of Iam the Squirrel," Grandpa Grey shares stories about the journeys of Iam, a young black squirrel who seeks adventures in the Dream Realm. Along the way, he encounters fairies, unicorns, and trolls, and he learns lessons about life and how it should be lived. Then, in "Grandpa Grey's Fabulous Fables," Grandpa tells the children all about the magic that brought the pinecones, flowers, frost, rainbows, unicorns, and all the wonderful things of the forest into being. Featuring the Land of Fairies, the Land of Dreams Come True, EnChanta, the Myst Mountains, and many more magical places, this collection of original fables and fairy tales explores the realms of imagination for the young and the young at heart.

An ancient HOPI proverb states “The one who tells the stories, rules the world.” Herein are 23 tales and adventures undertaken by Grandfather Frog……. Bored with the panorama of the Smiling Pool, Grandfather Frog determines to see the wide world which lies beyond his familiar surroundings of Laughing Brook, Green Meadows and the Green Forest. He ventures forth and immediately leaps forth into the world only to tumble haplessly into the pitfalls of greed, boastfulness, and carelessness. In this time-honoured classic, Thornton W. Burgess mixes exciting adventure and good-natured humour with gentle homily to spin a wholesome tale of animal characters and moral lessons which children have found appealing for generations. Woven into Grandfather Frog's adventures are the daring pranks of Jerry Muskrat, Little Joe Otter, and Billy Mink, the hunting exploits of Longlegs the Blue Heron and Whitetail the Marsh Hawk, as well as the brave deeds of Danny Meadow Mouse and Striped Chipmunk. Their interwoven stories will delight children as they discover, one by one, the many good reasons why Grandfather Frog came to wish he had kept his mouth shut and had never, ever thought of leaving the Smiling Pool to see the Great World. 10% of the publisher’s profit from the sale of this book will be donated to Charities. ============== Keywords/TAGS: fairy tales, folklore, myths, legends, children’s stories, children’s stories, bygone era, fairydom, fairy land, classic stories, children’s bedtime stories, fables, allegories, The adventures of Grandfather Frog, froggy, Billy Mink, Little Joe Otter, Longlegs The Blue Heron, receive, Caller, Visit, Smiling Pool, Patience, Jump, Just In Time, Whitetail, Quarrel, Big Mouth, In Trouble, Spotty, Turtle, Play, Doctor, Old Mr. Toad, Start Out, See, Great World, Stubborn, Keep On, Danny, Meadow Mouse, Responsible, responsibility, Strange Ride, Give Up, Hope, Merry, Little Breeze, Work Hard, Striped Chipmunk, Cut, String, Hurry Away, Jump Into Trouble, Lose Heart, Comfort, Troubles Grow, home, moral, lesson
