A founding figure of German idealism, Johann Gottlieb Fichte (1762-1814) developed a radically new version of transcendental idealism. The Bloomsbury Handbook of Fichte follows his intellectual life and presents a comprehensive overview of Fichte's dynamic philosophy, from his engagement with Kant to his rigorously systematic and nuanced Wissenschaftslehre and beyond. Covering a variety of topics and issues in epistemology, ontology, moral and political philosophy, as well as philosophy of right and philosophy of religion, an international team of experts on Fichte explores his important contributions to philosophy. Arranged chronologically, their chapters map Fichte's intellectual and philosophical development and the progression of his thought, identifying what motivated his philosophical inquiry and revealing why his ideas continue to shape discussions today. Alongside wide-ranging chapters advancing new insights into Fichte, there are topical discussions of conceptions and issues central to his philosophy. Featuring a chronology of Fichte's life, as well as a timeline of his publications and lectures, this is an invaluable research resource for all Fichte scholars and a reliable guide for anyone undertaking a study of Fichte and German idealism.

By drawing on the insights of diverse scholars from around the globe, this volume systematically investigates the meaning and reality of the concept of negation in Post-Kantian Philosophy—German Idealism, Early German Romanticism, and Neo-Kantianism. The reader benefits from the historical, critical, and systematic investigations contained which trace not only the significance of negation in these traditions, but also the role it has played in shaping the philosophical landscape of Post-Kantian philosophy. By drawing attention to historically neglected thinkers and traditions, and positioning the dialogue within a global and comparative context, this volume demonstrates the enduring relevance of Post-Kantian philosophy for philosophers thinking in today’s global context. This text should appeal to graduate students and professors of German Idealism, Post-Kantian philosophy, comparative philosophy, German studies, and intellectual history.

Johann Gottlieb Fichte (1762–1814) was the founding figure of the philosophical movement known as German idealism, a branch of thought which grew out of Kant's critical philosophy. Fichte's work formed the crucial link between eighteenth-century Enlightenment thought and philosophical, as well as literary, Romanticism. Some of his ideas also foreshadow later nineteenth- and twentieth-century developments in philosophy and in political thought, including existentialism, nationalism and socialism. This volume offers essays on all the major aspects of Fichte's philosophy, ranging from the successive versions of his foundational philosophical science or Wissenschaftslehre, through his ethical and political thought, to his philosophies of history and religion. All the main stages of Fichte's philosophical career and development are charted, and his ideas are placed in their historical and intellectual context. New readers will find this the most convenient and accessible guide to Fichte currently available. Advanced students and specialists will find a conspectus of recent developments in the interpretation of Fichte.

Fichte's 1804 Wissenschaftslehre, or The Science of Knowing, consists of a series of lectures he delivered in his Berlin home to members of the city's political and cultural elite in 1804. The lectures mark a dramatic shift in the terminology and methodology he uses to explore the nature of knowledge and reality as presented in his philosophical system, the Wissenschaftslehre. Although not published during his lifetime, Fichte's 1804 lectures provide a systematic update to his philosophy of knowledge and being, which was only hinted at in print in popular presentations like Characteristics of the Present Age (1805) and The Way Towards the Blessed Life (1806). In fact, these lectures contain Fichte's first public articulation of his philosophical position in the wake of the professional disaster of the "atheism controversy." This volume of new essays not only offers readers novel interpretations of the lectures but also introduces and clarifies key concepts, debates the relationship of the lectures to Fichte’s Jena presentation of the Wissenschaftslehre, and examines issues related to his method and system of idealism.

The Logos Of Law Parmenides Hegel Dostoevsky written by S.I. Zakhartsev and has been published by Europa Edizioni this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-04-30 with Fiction categories.

This monograph develops an extensively fresh approach for interpreting logical philosophy as a way to understand the universal unity of thinking and being (Fichte and Hegel) and interpreting the meaning of its harmony (Dostoevsky). The book offers a starting, easy-to-read overview of the essence and meaning of the universal unity of thought and being, as a core concept of the classical philosophy—from the teachings of Parmenides to those of the early Christian Fathers—and the philosophy of law, that tries to demonstrate how this universal unity, which is the foundation of the absolute harmony of existence, manifests in itself the certainty of law and legal awareness. Gradually, it proceeds to introduce increasingly difficult aspects of the German philosophy of 18th–19th centuries by presenting a synthesis of the logical form of philosophy until landing in metaphysics of law, as well as major long-term issues of modern jurisprudence. The authors present a specialized knowledge about law as a complex and multidimensional notion; they discuss the problem of monism-dualism, look at the law-morality, law-religion dualisms and at the concept of the Absolute in law. Their approach is aimed to develop theoretical and methodological premises of a modern, comprehensive theory of law based on an updated notion of freedom in law. This paper synthesizes the results that this trio of researchers, regarded as experts by the Russian scientific community, has achieved after many years of systematic studies of philosophy of law. It is addressed to specialists in the field of theory and philosophy of law, university tutors, post-graduate students, graduate students, legal experts and to everyone who is interested in improving their knowledge of history of philosophy and legal thought as well as exploring Dostoevsky’s ideas from an unusual perspective.
