After a short description of Schliemann's life, Dr. Schuchhardt give detailed accounts of Schliemann's discoveries at Troy, Tiryns, and Mycenae. The great treasures found at Troy and Mycenae are thoroughly described, as well as Schliemann's experimental method of unearthing them. Schliemann's greatest achievement was in finding the ancient cities, thus proving that they were real as Homer described them and not just constructs of the poet's imagination.
