Constructivism Narrative And Foreign Policy Analysis written by Christopher S. Browning and has been published by Peter Lang this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008 with Foreign Language Study categories.

Building on constructivist approaches to international relations this book develops a narrative theory of identity, action and foreign policy, which is then applied to account for the evolution of Finnish foreign policy. The book adopts an innovative approach by showing how foreign policy orientations need to be seen as grounded in overlapping and competing sets of identity narratives that reappear in different forms through history. By emphasising the dynamism implicit within identity narratives the book not only challenges traditional rationalist materialist approaches to foreign policy analysis, but also the current tendency to depict the story of Finnish foreign policy, identity and history as one of a gradual move towards a Western location. Rather the book emphasises elements of multiplicity and contingency, whilst re-establishing foreign policy as a highly political process concerned with power and the right to define reality and national subjectivity.

The European Neutrals And Nato written by Andrew Cottey and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-12-05 with Political Science categories.

This book provides the first detailed comparative analysis of the unusual partnership between the main European neutral states and NATO. Neutrality and alliance membership are fundamentally incompatible, but through the vehicle of NATO’s post-Cold War partnerships the European neutral states and NATO have found a way to bridge this gap and cooperate with one another. Based on case studies of Austria, Finland, Ireland, Sweden and Switzerland written by leading experts, this book explores the detail of each country’s relationship with NATO, the factors shaping those relationships and whether any of these states are likely to abandon neutrality and join NATO. The book also contributes to broader work on foreign policy by exploring different explanations of the European neutral states’ foreign and security policy choices. This book will be of interest to scholars of the European neutral states, NATO and European security, as well as to those interested in understanding the dynamics behind states foreign policy choices.

After The Cold War written by Alpo M. Rusi and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991-05-31 with Political Science categories.

This book provides new and exceptional interpretations in regard to the post-World War 2 history of the East-West conflict and calls for interdisciplinary approaches in analyzing international relations. The systematic and political processes are undoing the division of Europe and restoring an 'organically' interdependent continent. The events of 1989 in Eastern Europe are but a harbinger of a new security order in Europe and, for the first time since the Treaty of Westphalia of 1648 Europe tries to look beyond state-centered concepts of security.

Besides becoming more complex, destructive, and coercive, military cyber threats are now ubiquitous, and it is difficult to imagine a future conflict that would not have a cyber dimension. This book presents the proceedings of CYDEF2018, a collaborative workshop between NATO and Japan, held in Tokyo, Japan, from 3 – 6 April 2018 under the umbrella of the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme. It is divided into 3 sections: policy and diplomacy; operations and technology; and training and education, and covers subjects ranging from dealing with an evolving cyber threat picture to maintaining a skilled cyber workforce. The book serves as a unique reference for some of the most pressing challenges related to the implementation of effective cyber defense policy at a technical and operational level, and will be of interest to all those working in the field of cybersecurity.

Theory And Reality Of International Politics written by Hans Mouritzen and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-05-20 with Political Science categories.

First published in 1998, this volume deals with the explanation of international politics and foreign policy. Levels of explanation and their interrelationships offer the book’s structure. Based on critiques of major IR approaches, a ‘bottom-up’ instead of a systemic ‘top-down’ perspective (Waltz) is advocated, but without falling prey to reductionism explaining international politics from domestic factors. Explanation of state behaviour should primarily stress states’ salient environment, but occasionally also their historical lessons from previous experience with this environment. International organizations or other non-state actors may be allowed an influence of their own in certain areas, but the state remains in ultimate control.
